Do you think that artworks should undergo restoration? If during the restoration the artwork changes, what does this mean for the original artist’s vision? Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of restoring artworks.

Answers

Answer:

I think the practice of restoring artworks is a very dangerous game. Artwork that has been around for centuries cannot be replaced and if they were to, somehow, get messed up during the restoration process then that is a large chunk of history that has been lost. However, I do believe that (if done right) artwork restoration can turn out beautiful as long as the person restoring the artwork is highly skilled and trained within this profession. Personally, I don't believe that the original artist's vision has been changed, just as long as nothing has been changed on the artwork (example: adding a bird or a tree to the painting that was not there before). In conclusion, if done right, art restoration can be a great thing but there is always the factor of danger added in.

What year was the Mona Lisa stolen? And how many months was it's dissapearence?

Answers

Guillaume Apollinaire was arrested for stealing the Mona Lisa on Sept 07 1911But this is not the first time it was stolen however... it was believed to be stolen also by the Nazis in a museum raid over 50 pounds of paintings were stolen along with the Mona Lisa even though the Mona Lisa has been recovered it has been vandalized many times with things such as coffee spray paint and knifes but it has been restored to its original condition

Fun fact: the Mona Lisa doesn't have eyebrows OR eyelashes

The Mona Lisa was stolen around 1911 and I believe it wasn't until 1913, the thief was caught. I'm positive the painting was missing for more than a couple months but if you try putting years into months, that would be 24 months.
