How do shifts help the reader understand the message of the story? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: Not completely sure but I think that shifts give clues to the reader (most likely through devices such as imagery and emotional context). Shift creates foreshadowing and suspense, it allows for there to be situational irony in the story, instead of blindly leading the reader on. Therefore, shift gives the readers insight to the story, creates foreshadowing, suspense, and situational irony (which makes a great book) so that the book isn't just blind details leading the reader through the dark the whole time (if this was the case, then it would not be a desirable book).

A thesis statement should _____. ask a question state a fact or make an assertion capture the audience's attention

Answers

The correct option is "capture the audience's attention". The goal of a thesis statement is to identify the topic that the essay will discuss. The thesis statement is very useful to catch reader's attention towards the topic so that they continue reading the essay.

The thesis statement is usually included in the introductory paragraph of an essay. Thesis statements are not statements of facts.

A thesis should make an assertion that will be proven in the essay.

Facts will back up the thesis statement. A question is a weaker mode of writing. The introduction must capture the audience's attention.

Which statement is an example of a moral that could be inferred from the story "The Ugly Duckling" by Hans Christian Andersen?

Answers

The moral of the ugly duckling's story is that we all have our beauty. So has the swan. Sometimes we may feel different within some group, in the end, we realize that we have our own beauty.

he may have felt inferior, excluded, but he was not aware that he was actually a swan, and he had this desire to be like other ducklings. In the end, "the ugly duckling" turned ou to be a beautiful swan. For the ducklings, he was too different and did not fit into that group. It may have thought he was ugly and  He became as beautiful as the ducklings, with their particular beauty.

The moral of the story is that every single being in existence is beautiful on its own. The ugly duckling turned into the most beautiful swan, because it was never a duckling. It was ugly according to duck standards, but it was beautiful in all actuality.
