Answer: In order to find the area of this figure, you will need to separate the individual figures and find their areas, then add the total for the entire area.

The square part should be easy, it's only base * height. In this case, the base is 6 and the height is 5. You don't want the answer so that's the farthest I'll go with that =)

Then, there are the triangles.
Right triangles are easy to find area of in that they are simply a rectangle split diagonally, so the area of a triangle is simply base * height over 2, and since the triangles are the same measure, the base would be half the base of the square, which is 3. The height is 2.

Don't forget that there are two triangles, though, so a shortcut in this problem would be to solve one triangle for base * height and then leave off the divide by two step, since there are two triangles that have the same area, and so you would end up just multiplying by 2 in the end, thereby cancelling out the divide by 2 step entirely.

Hope that helped! =)

How many times can you take away 2 from 100 bricks?

Answers

The number of times 2 can take away from 100 bricks is \boxed{50{\text{ times}}}.

Further explanation:

Given:

There are 100 bricks in a lot and we have to take 2 bricks away from the lot.

Explanation:

If we take 2 from 100 we left with 100 - 2 = 98.

If we take 2 from 98 we left with 98 - 2 = 96.

If we take 2 from 96 we left with 96 - 2 = 94.

Similarly we can take 2 bricks from 94 and left with 92 bricks and 2 bricks from 92 bricks and left with 90 bricks.

The number of bricks that can be taken 2 bricks away from the 100 bricks can be calculated as follows,

\begin{aligned}Number&= \frac{{100}}{2}\n&= 50\n\end{aligned}

The number of times 2 can take away from 100 bricks is \boxed{50{\text{ times}}}.

Sales in the printing business have doubled for James in each of the last three months. During the last month, he made a profit of $520. If the pattern continues, what will be his three month total profit at the end of the next three months?

Answers

The equation for his currnet sales can be as follows:
x=520*2^n
n is the current month
We are looking for the sum of next 3 months, so n+1, n+2 and n+3.

520*2^(n+1)+520*2^(n+2)+520*2^(n+3)=520*4+520*8+520*16=2080+4160+8320=14560
