Helium does not usually react with other substances. Does this mean that helium has no chemical properties? Please explain.

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: The electron "shell" (or orbitals) for helium is full with two electrons. It, like hydrogen, follows the duet rule. This means that it is "happy" and not very reactive once it has two elections in its shell. For helium, it is inert (doesn't react, no chemical properties) if it keeps the electrons in its shell. If, however, one were to remove an electron (ionize it) the atom would be helium, as it has 2 protons, but would react with elements that have 1 valence electron in order to get the full shell. This is VERY uncommon simply because it takes a great amount of energy to remove the electron the process is not very useful. The answer to your question is essentially, no like other noble gases, helium does not have chemical properties.
Answer 2
Answer:

Final answer:

Though helium doesn't usually react with other substances due to its full electron shell, it doesn't mean it lacks chemical properties. Properties like atomic number, atomic mass, density, and reactivity are its chemical properties.

Explanation:

The statement that helium does not usually react with other substances  is correct. This is due to helium being a noble gas with a complete set of electrons in its outer shell, making it stable and unlikely to participate in chemical reactions. However, this does not mean it has no chemical properties. Properties such as atomic number, atomic mass, density, and the inability to react or bond with other elements are indeed chemical properties.

Review the types of elements that create ionic bonds aswell as the types of elements that create covalent bonds.
• N2 • CCl4 • SiO2
• AlCl3 • CaCl2 • LiBr

Answers

Answer:

N2 Covalent

CCl4 Covalent

SiO2 Covalent

AlCl3 Covalent

CaCl2 Ionic

LiBr Covalent

Explanation:

With covalent bonds, there is a sharing of electron pairs between the atoms.

With ionic bonds, there is complete transfer of valence electrons between atoms. Formed by the interaction of a metal with a non-metal.

Where:

Electrons aren't transferred in covalent bonds.

Protons aren't  transferred in covalent bonds

Protons aren't shared in covalent bonds

N3-

C4+

Cl-

Si4+ = Metal

O2- = Non-metal

Al3+ = Metal

Li+ = Metal

Ca2+ = Metal

Br  1-, 1+, 5+ = Halogen

N2 = N3- and N3- Covalent

CCl4 = C4+ and Cl- x4 Covalent

SiO2 = Si4+ and O2- x 2 Metal with non metal Covalent

AlCl3 = Al3+ and Cl- x 3 Covalent Though this one is complex as to why because it seems like it should be ionic

CaCl2 = Ca2+ and Cl- x 2 Metal with non-metal Ionic

LiBr = Li+ and Br- Covalent as neither is a non-metal

As an aqueous solution becomes more acidic the hydroxide ion

Answers

An aqueous solution becomes more acidic, as the hydroxide ion concentration decreases. Being acidic, the substance can readily donate hydrogen ions or H+. Therefore, the solution contains more hydrogen ions than hydroxide ions.

Photosynthesis is a vital process for plants, animals and humans, and the environment? Give at least two examples of how plants, animals and humans, and the environment benefit from photosynthesis.

Answers

When photosynthesis occurs, carbon dioxide is consumed by the plant and oxygen is the by-product of the reaction. Oxygen is vital to survival since we need it to breathe.

Photosynthesis is how plants make food for themselves. We get our food directly (we eat vegetables) and indirectly (herbivorous animals)  from plants.
photosynthesis produces food for plants
this requires carbon dioxide and water to react in the present of sunlight and also chlorophyll to produce glucose and oxygen
1.animals need the oxygen supplied for respiration
2.photosynthesis helps to balance the carbon dioxide content in air, it reduces the amount of carbon dioxide thereby reducing occurrence of global warming
3.also there are animals that depend on plants for their food ,herbivores,without photosynthesis the crop will die depriving the animal of its food supply
