Read the poem.Where The Mind Is Without Fear

by Rabindranath Tagore

Tagore was an Indian writer who lived during the time that Great Britain ruled over the country of India, one of its colonies. In this poem, he expresses his views on how his people have reacted to that control and his hopes for their future.

Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high

Where knowledge is free

Where the world has not been broken up into fragments

By narrow domestic walls

Where words come out from the depth of truth

Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection

Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way

Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit

Where the mind is led forward by thee

Into ever-widening thought and action

Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.

What can be correctly concluded based on this excerpt from Leo Tolstoy’s The Death of Ivan Ilyich? At the law courts too, Ivan Ilyich noticed, or thought he noticed, a strange attitude towards himself. It sometimes seemed to him that people were watching him inquisitively as a man whose place might soon be vacant. Then again, his friends would suddenly begin to chaff him in a friendly way about his low spirits, as if the awful, horrible, and unheard-of thing that was going on within him, incessantly gnawing at him and irresistibly drawing him away, was a very agreeable subject for jests. Schwartz in particular irritated him by his jocularity, vivacity, and savoir-faire, which reminded him of what he himself had been ten years ago. Ivan misses his former self before the fear of his impending death forced him to mend his ways. Ivan looks forward to spending quality time with his friends, but not his family. Ivan likes to share his innermost thoughts and feelings with his friends. Ivan was pompous and fake until his impending death made him face the reality of his life. Ivan found his friends to be caring and supportive during his illness after his bad fall.

B. An outline is the skeleton and the research paper is the body.
C. An outline is the organs and the research paper is the muscles.
D. An outline is the heart and the research paper is the brains.

Answers

Thebest analogy comparing an outline to a research paper is letter B: An outlineis the skeleton and the research paper is the body. This is because skeleton islike a framework, the foundation of something, the fundamentality of creation. Itis like the fundamental source of everything beautiful that is yet to grow. Adefault of a thing coming for beauty. It is something that came from somethingthat we do not know yet if it is beautiful or not when it grows. But in theright time, everything about it will unravel, slowly but surely, like a flower, from being just a bud (skeleton) to becoming a flower with healthy petals (researchpaper).

Dear Principal Corte,I write to you with a concern that requires immediate attention. It is my belief that the lunch period at Mountain Vista High School is not long enough and should be lengthened. The most important reason that our lunch period should be extended is so that all the students at Mountain Vista High School have a chance to eat. As it stands now, many students are unable to get through the lunch line and eat lunch. Even if the lunchroom staff are extremely efficient and able to get everyone through the line, some students end up with only a few minutes to eat their lunch. I have spoken with the school nurse about this issue, and she says that eating too quickly is a very unhealthy habit. Consequently, some students have become so frustrated with the long lines that they have resorted to getting their lunch from the vending machines, and everyone knows that a candy bar and a can of soda is the worst possible lunch a person can eat. The fact of the matter is that if the lunch period is extended, then all the students will make it through the lunch line and will be able to eat their lunch in a healthy way. In addition, the lunch period should be extended because it would give students additional time to study or finish up homework. Those of us who take part in after-school activities or have jobs often don’t get home until late in the evening. Then, after we eat dinner, we are usually too exhausted to put our best effort into our homework. If we had more time at lunch, many of us would complete our homework properly. I truly hope that you take my arguments under consideration, Principal Corte. Please see the attached petition with almost 2,000 signatures of students who share my opinions about extending the lunch period. Take this petition as a sign that there are many of us who are not completely happy with our experience at Mountain Vista High School. Mountain Vista High School is important to me, and I believe that students should get the best: extend our lunch period, and you will definitely get the best from us. Sincerely, Alexis Walters Which step, if implemented, will most weaken the author’s case for extending the lunch break? A. installing additional candy and soda vending machines in the cafeteria B. allowing students to decide on the cafeteria menu choices C. giving additional homework to the students and encouraging them to participate in after-school activities D. introducing a homework period after lunch to allow students to complete their unfinished homework
