The Chrysalids The punishment of deviates is clearly revealed for the first time in this chapter. What is it? Why is it done? How do the people of the Fringes react to this?

Answers

The people of Wanuk who refused to worship common rules are being treated like those who are not the image of God. So government sends them to the land called Fringes, where you can see animals and strange people with multiple mutations or abnormalities. Wanuk’s people can’t put up with people who don’t follow their rules and they think that is as unusual as being a mutant.

Final answer:

In 'The Chrysalids', deviates are punished by exile to the Fringes due to perceived religious transgressions. Definitely, the Fringes people, being deviates themselves, resent this punishment.

Explanation:

In John Wyndham's novel, The Chrysalids, the punishment of deviates is exile - they are banished to live in the area known as the Fringes. This is done due to a deeply ingrained belief that deviations from the perceived 'norm' are abhorrent to God and must be rejected. The people of the Fringes themselves are largely comprised of these exiled deviates and, as such, react bitterly to this punishment - they essentially resent their rejection from society.

Why is this not an appropriate research paper topic? Why driver education should be offered free of charge at my high school.

Answers

Answer:

Here are the options to the questions:

A. It is too broad of a subject.

B. It is too narrow of a subject.

C. It is not re-searchable.

D. It involves opinion.

The answer is B. It is too narrow of a subject.

A research paper is a form of academic writing based on the original study on a specific topic by its author and the review and interpretation of the results of the research. Based on the above question, the reason why driver education should be offered free of charge at my high school is not an appropriate re-searchable paper is because it is too narrow, not much to put down. The topic is a good argumentative/editorial piece, but not ideal for a research paper.

I think it's because it involves opinion, but don't take my word for it

Why is it important to get to know people before forming an opinion about them? List two examples please. :)

Answers

It is important toknow people before forming an opinion about them because what we see is notalways what it seems. People are bounded by stereotypes or prejudice due totheir previous experiences or the images brought on by the media.  For example, a woman is deemed to be a goodperson because he or she always goes to church and is very active with churchactivities. However, she may be abusing her children and doing acts of violenceon them. This example may be too extreme so here’s another one. Let’s say youmeet a person who always wears black, has plenty of piercings and tattoos anddoes not smile so much. People readily think that he is a bad person and doesnot have a decent job. But actually, that person has a stable job, is a goodfather/husband and contributes to society. You will never really know unlessyou get to know them in person.

What are some steps to follow when writing a summary of a text?

Answers

Steps in writing a summary of a text:
1) organize notes into an outline which includes main ideas and supporting points but no examples or details (dates, numbers, statistics)
2)write an introductory paragraph that begins with a frame, including an in-text citation of the source and the author as well as reporting verb (present tense) to introduce the main idea.
3) the main idea or argument needs to be included in the first sentence. Then, mention the major aspects/factors/reasons that are discussed in the article/lecture. Give a full reference for this citation at the end of the summary.
4) Support your topic sentence with the necessary reasons or arguments raised by the author/lecturer but omit all references to details, such as dates or statistics.
5)Use discourse markers that reflect the organization and controlling idea of the original.
6) Long summary, paraphrase the topic.
