Which sentences in Arthur Conan Doyle's "The Contest" suggest that the author’s tone is mocking?

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: "Many a singer far better than this absurd fop had been driven amid execration and abuse from the platform." Is the sentence that really shows mockery the best. While the author was praising him for what he was doing in the beginning it ends with such a mocking tone it changes the way you look at the rest of the reading.

Why does ponyboy feel like an outsider

Answers

Because he doesn't fit - he belongs in a group called Greasers who are from broken homes, poor economic situation and little education. But he is also outsider within that group - he is younger than most of the boys, he is still in school and pretty bright.
He feels like he doesn't belong. He likes poetry, and books and does things differently than the other greasers. He is way less rowdy than any of the over boys and he is always thinking and dreaming. Also, he is the youngest so he can't relate to everything the older boys do or experience. (like things involving relationships)
hope this helps.

Into what genre do both Edgar Allan Poe's "the philosophy of composition " and Stephen king's on writing falls ?

Answers

They both fall under nonfiction.

The correct answer is nonfiction.

Both of these texts are theoretical essays on writing and what constitutes a good, academic text. Essays fall into the category of nonfiction, which is why fiction is the incorrect answer here. Both of these are texts, essays, and not poems or plays, which is why those answers are also incorrect. The texts deal with what the writers can do to make their writing better.

What is the difference between to and too?

Answers

Too is like when your saying something else is like that and to is just like signifying a place, like go to the shop.
"To" is generally used as a preposition. For example, "going to the park".

"To" can also be used in the infinitive form with a verb, eg. "to walk" "to swim" etc.

Whereas, "too" is normally used to mean the same thing as what was previously said. Eg. someone says "I love pizza" and you could reply "me too", in which case it sort of acts as a synonym for "as well".

Another use for "too" is to say that something is in excess, for example there are "too many" or "too few" things, for example.

Sorry for the poor explanation - I hope it helps! :)
