What does John say that he wants instead of comfort? What right does Mond suggest that he is claiming?

Answers

Answer:

John demanded " I don’t want comfort. I want God, I want poetry, I  want real danger, I want freedom, I want goodness. I want  sin".

Mustapha Mond suggests he's claiming "the right to be unhappy".

Explanation:

Aldoux Huxley's Brave New World is set in a dystopian world where the off-springs of the people were genetically engineered and already classed into their predestined castes from birth. The setting of the story is in the year 2540 AD, and deals with the theme of science and efficiency, away from humanistic emotions and feelings.

In chapter 17, John, the son of Linda and the Director of the Hatchery and Bernard Marx along with Helmholtz Watson are exiled for causing a scandal in the society. When told about how everything has been engineered to be comfortable for the people, John demands that he did not "want comfort [but rather] God, poetry, real danger, freedom, goodness [and] sin".

At this, Mustapha Mond, the "Resident World Controller for Western Europe" suggests that John is claiming "the right to be unhappy", for everything that he's just demanded is against the way of their scientifically engineered world. And with his demand, he's claiming all the ills of human life that the "New World" is offering.

If you were an exceedingly wealthy, altruistic philanthropist, what causes would you support and why?

Answers

I would support funding for foster homes. With better funding the government would be able to give them better lives. A lot of foster kids grow up in and out of the foster system due to caretakers that are only interested in making money from the government. There is also the housing problem. If there are too many kids at one orphanage they will refuse other kids. More funding will allow the people in charge to buy larger buildings to house more children, and make it less cramped.

I feel that this would help make orphans a little more happy because they're not just getting thrown at whomever will take them due to housing space. Children in the foster system end up being angry at themselves and angry at others that they are constantly thrown around and no one ever adopts them.

With better funding these children would have a better life, and a better chance at finding a comfortable home to live in.

Select the best analogy. 22. sentinel : vigilant ::A.
scholar : encyclopedic

B.
sailor : tangential

C.
visionary : auspicious

D.
dentist : superlative

Answers

It is either A or C.

I personally think A because scholars are full of information, thus making them encyclopedic.

C also works though because auspicious means: conductive to success and visionaries usually are known as successful.

Sailors have nothing to do with tangents, that's math lol.

Dentists are not usually seen as having the utmost skill, thus they are not superlative.
