How did the Greeks influence the Roman writers?

Answers

This educational influence led to a strong cultural influence from Greece to Rome, and the classical writer Horace noted the irony of the situation: "Captive Greece conquered her savage victor." Roman education relied heavily on Greek writers, including Homer, and various aspects of Roman culture borrowed from Greece. For example, the Roman religion has similar gods to the ancient Greek religion, but with different names. The Greek influence on Roman architecture can be seen in temple design, though Roman architects took this influence and made something with different characteristics.

Which of these was true about the Punic Wars? The Punic Wars lasted a total of 30 years.
The Punic Wars were won by Carthage.
The Punic Wars expanded the Roman Republic.
The Punic Wars began when Hannibal invaded Rome.

Answers

Answer:

The Punic Wars expanded the Roman Republic.

Explanation:

It is known by the name of the Punic wars to the three armed conflicts that faced between years 264 a. C. and 146 a. C. to the two main powers of the western Mediterranean of the time: Rome and Carthage. They are named after the Latin ethnonym Pūnicī used by the Romans to refer to the Carthaginians and their Phoenician ancestors. For their part, the Carthaginians called these conflicts "Roman wars"

At the outbreak of the conflict greatly influenced the annexation by Rome of Magna Grecia, in the south of the Italian peninsula, but the main cause of the conflict between the two was the conflict of interests between the colonies of Carthage and the expansion of the Republic of Rome. The first shock occurred on the island of Sicily, partially under Carthaginian control. At the beginning of the first Punic War, Carthage was the dominant power in the western Mediterranean Sea, controlling an extensive maritime empire, while Rome was the emerging power in the center of the Italian peninsula. At the end of the third Punic war, and after decades of conflict, Rome conquered all the Carthaginian possessions and razed the city of Carthage, its capital, with which the Carthaginian faction disappeared from history.

Rome thus became the most powerful state in the western Mediterranean, which added to the end of the Macedonian wars and the defeat of the Seleucid emperor Antiochus III Megas in the Roman-Syrian war in the eastern Mediterranean, turned the Roman Republic into power dominant in the Mediterranean. The overwhelming defeat of Carthage meant a turning point that caused the knowledge of the ancient Mediterranean civilizations to pass to the modern world through Europe instead of Africa.

Im pretty sure the Punic wars expanded the Roman Republic since Carthage got seriously destroyed.

Answer:

Jerusalem is a big city and is the capital if Israel, its one of the oldest cities in the world. It is located in the central hill country, and is near the border of the Judean desert. It is far removed from any major trade routes. Canaan was the land in which the Hebrew people settled. To the Hebrews, Canaan was the “promised land” when “God” told Abraham, the leader of the Hebrew people, that the land would belong to the people who will descend from him. At the time when they settled, the Hebrews were not wealthy and didn’t have any power. They wrote many books about their history and anything that was related to their religion, called “Judaism.” In 2000 B.C., Canaan was located to the right, next to the Mediterranean Sea. On the map of Canaan in the Ancient Middle East, the city of Jerusalem is located to the left of the Dead Sea. In the eleventh century B.C. a powerful group of people called the Philistines came from across the Mediterranean Sea and then settled. Israelites, who were also living in Canaan, were challenged for land possession. The Israelites decided that the people should unite and live under just one ruler. The Hebrews thought that they should have a king who is just and good. Later, there was a war with the Philistines, which caused the kingdom to fall apart. A man named David helped defeat the Philistines by throwing a stone so powerfully that it killed one of the Philistines warriors. Under the command of David, the Israelites had success with getting their territory back. The Hebrew army ended up capturing the city of Jerusalem from the Philistines, and later, David made the city as capital of his kingdom. Then the Israelites decided to call it the City of David. Solomon is the son of David. He became the king when David was an old man and gave up the throne. Solomon made a temple in Jerusalem and ruled with many skills like diplomacy. Solomon’s temple became a special center for Hebrew worship. Using the temple, people offered sacrifices of animals, fruit or grain in order to honor “God.” Jerusalem was an important city because for many people, some of the religions for many different people originated there. The Hebrews didn’t enjoy when the philistines threatened Canaan. Apart from the Israelites the Hebrews thought that having a single king was a bad idea, they decided God is ruling the people. Their army of the Hebrew People helped defeat the philistines during the war with them and captured Jerusalem. Some of the Hebrews decided to try worshiping more than one "God," but that brought the Hebrew people trouble. The Hebrews were warned that they might be forced to leave their land. They ignored such warning, which led to another group of people, called the Assyrians, to appear and cause problems. The Assyrians have destroyed the kingdom of the Israelites. Other people like another king named Nebuchadnezzar, also attacked Jerusalem and caused other problems. Some people were captured and taken to a place called Babylon. Some of the Hebrews who stayed in Jerusalem tried to rebel against Nebuchadnezzar. This lead to more attacks, and later, a siege for Jerusalem. Nebuchadnezzar sent his people, the Babylonians after Jerusalem. The interaction between the Hebrews and Babylonians was not very friendly. Many of the Israelites ended up being slaves in Babylon and spent a long time in captivity. Overall, there was no friendly interaction between the Hebrews, Assyrians, and Babylonians, as there was nothing but fighting, war, and captivity.

The correct answer is: C. questions to arise over the use of nuclear energy.

The accident at Three Mile Island was a nuclear accident in Pennsylvania and it happened on March 28th of 1979. It significantly reduced the confidence of the population in nuclear power plants and increase the fears associated with nuclear technology. Also, the Three Mile Island accident was bad for the global development of nuclear power. Because of this event, the number of reactors under construction in the US declined.

The correct answer is C: In 1979, a major accident at Three Mile Island caused questions to arise over the use of nuclear energy.

Even though the Three Mile Island accident did not cause deaths nor injuries to plant workers or members of the nearby community and no one was exposed to harmful radiation, public confidence in nuclear energy declined, a lot of people opposed the construction of new plants, and there were several campaigns by anti-nuclear activist groups.

All of this resulted in a significant decline of nuclear construction in the following decades (through 1980s to 1990s): Seven operating reactors at Three Mile Island were shut down immediately, the NRC (Nuclear Regulatory Commission) did not issue any reactor construction permits, approval for new plants by the NRC was delayed for years and a lot of orders and projects were cancelled (For example: utilities companies canceled over 120 reactor orders because of the soaring costs and stagnating electricity demand)
