What is the missing reason in step 5A. Linear pair postulate

B. Givin

C. Definition of complementary angles

D. Congruent complements theorem

Answers

Answer:

(A) Linear pair postulate

Step-by-step explanation:

Given: AB intersects DE at point C.

To prove: ∠DCB≅∠ECA

Proof:

Statements                                                                   Reasons

1. AB intersects DE at point C.                                      given

2. ∠DCB and ∠BCE are a linear pair                       Definition of linear pair

3. ∠DCB is supplementary to ∠BCE                        Linear pair postulate

4. ∠BCE and ∠ECA are a linear pair                       Definition of linear pair

5. ∠BCE is supplementary to ∠ECA                       Linear pair postulate

Thus, from statement 2 and 5, we have

∠DCB+∠BCE=180° and ∠BCE+∠ECA=180°

⇒∠DCB+∠BCE=∠BCE+∠ECA

∠DCB≅∠ECA

Hence proved

thus, option A is correct.

Algebra tiles to prove that 4 + 8x and 4(2x+1)

Answers

not sure what algebra tiles are

not sure how to absolutely prove
I can prove it works at least most of the time by subsitute ing number for x

remember that 0,1,2 have special properties and are not very good for subsituting so
try 4
4+8(4)=4(2(4)+1)
true or false?
4+8(4)=4(2(4)+1)
multipily
4+32=4(8+1)
36=4(9)
36=36
this is treu at least for the number 4
another way is to believe in the distributive property where
a(b+c)=ab+ac so then
4(2x+1)=4(2x)+4(1)=8x+4=4+8x

4 + 8x

Now, see if the simplified form of 4(2x + 1) is equal to that.

4*2x = 8x
4*1 = 4

4 + 8x = 4 + 8x   Correct

4. Complete. a. Factor: 2x2 – 5x – 3.

b. Subtract: 3x-2/2x^2-5x-3 - 1/x-3

can anyone help me on these problems and explain how you did it please

Thank you

Answers

a. 2 x^(2) -5x-3=2 x^(2) -6x+x-3 (I'll explain how I split it in a bit)
=2x(x-3)+1(x-3)  Look for common factors between the 1st two and then the second two while trying to make sure the variables in the brackets are the same.
Now you only have to write the value in the bracket once and then join the outer factors in their own bracket so your final answer will be (2 x^(2) +1)(x-3)

For the first thing I did, I multiplied the first part of the equation by the last part= 2x^(2) x -3=-6x^(2). I then proceeded to find two numbers that can be multiplied to give the result and when added will give the middle part (-5x).
Factors of -6x^(2) are: -1x and 6x, -2x and 3x, -3x and 2x, -6x and 1x. The only ones that add up -5x are -x and 6x so that was why I used them.

b. 3x-2/2x^2-5x-3 - 1/x-3
     (3x-2)/(2 x^(2) -5x-3)- (1)/(x-3) = (3x-2)/((2x+1)(x-3)) - (1)/(x-3)
                                                                          = (1(3x-2) +1(2x+1))/((2x+1)(x-3))
                                                                          = (3x+2x-2+1)/((2x+1)(x-3) )
                                                                          =(x-1)/(2 x^(2) -5x-3)

Answers

Answer:

9 1/6

Step-by-step explanation:

2 1/2 * 3 2/3

Change each mixed number to an improper fraction

2 1/2 = (2*2+1) /2 = 5/2

3 2/3 = (3*3+2)/3 =11/3

5/2*11/3 = 55/6

Now we change back to a mixed number

6 goes into 55 9 times

9*6 =54 so there is 1 left over

9 1/6
