From to citizen: P'u Yi 1. The author describes his as a(n) what childhoodA) depressing
B) carefree
C) expensive
D) absurd

Answers

In this passage, the author describes his childhood as being depressing. He then overcomes this adversity, however, through a variety of exercises.

P'u Yi's childhood was depressing (A).

At only 2 years and 10 months of age P'u Yi was taken away from his parents to be the emperor of China. The only person allowed to go with him was his wet nurse, but she was sent away when P'u Yi was eight years old because he was too old to breastfeed. He wasn't allowed to see his real mom until he was thirteen. During his childhood, he was never allowed to act like a child and was always treated like an emperor.

Andrei prefers that his mentor focus more on trigonometry instead of algebra. The sentence above uses the verb mood in the imperative. subjunctive. conditional. interrogative.

Answers

I would definitely go with B because a subjunctive is an realist mood (one that does not refer directly to what is necessarily real) – it is often contrasted with the indicative, which is a realist mood. Subjunctives occur most often, although not exclusively, in subordinate clauses, particularly that-clauses.

Why is destroying the building frame like kicking the legs out from under a table

Answers

Answer:

The destroying of building frame is like kicking the legs out from under a table becaus just like the legs of table holds it, the frame of building holds it.

Explanation:

The meaning of this statement can be understood from the perspective of the use of analogy.

An analogy is a literary device that is used to compare two things to resemble or portray the similarity that they possess. This literary device is used not just only to make comparison but to determine the meaning of the comparison.

In the given statement, it is not just a comparison of a building and a table but conveying the meaning that just like the legs of the table supports and balance it, the frames of the building functions the same. It is showing the importance of frames in a building. Just like the legs holds up a table, the frame holds up a building.

Final answer:

Destroying the building frame is like kicking the legs out from under a table because both actions result in the collapse of the structure.

Explanation:

Destroying the building frame is similar to kicking the legs out from under a table because both actions result in the collapse of the structure. When you kick the legs out from under a table, it loses its support, causing it to fall. Similarly, the building frame provides support for the entire structure, and if it is destroyed, the building can collapse.

For example, imagine a table with four legs. Each leg supports a portion of the weight on the table. If you were to kick one of the legs, the table would become unstable and could collapse. The building frame works in a similar way, providing support and stability to the structure.

Dear Principal Corte,I write to you with a concern that requires immediate attention. It is my belief that the lunch period at Mountain Vista High School is not long enough and should be lengthened. The most important reason that our lunch period should be extended is so that all the students at Mountain Vista High School have a chance to eat. As it stands now, many students are unable to get through the lunch line and eat lunch. Even if the lunchroom staff are extremely efficient and able to get everyone through the line, some students end up with only a few minutes to eat their lunch. I have spoken with the school nurse about this issue, and she says that eating too quickly is a very unhealthy habit. Consequently, some students have become so frustrated with the long lines that they have resorted to getting their lunch from the vending machines, and everyone knows that a candy bar and a can of soda is the worst possible lunch a person can eat. The fact of the matter is that if the lunch period is extended, then all the students will make it through the lunch line and will be able to eat their lunch in a healthy way. In addition, the lunch period should be extended because it would give students additional time to study or finish up homework. Those of us who take part in after-school activities or have jobs often don’t get home until late in the evening. Then, after we eat dinner, we are usually too exhausted to put our best effort into our homework. If we had more time at lunch, many of us would complete our homework properly. I truly hope that you take my arguments under consideration, Principal Corte. Please see the attached petition with almost 2,000 signatures of students who share my opinions about extending the lunch period. Take this petition as a sign that there are many of us who are not completely happy with our experience at Mountain Vista High School. Mountain Vista High School is important to me, and I believe that students should get the best: extend our lunch period, and you will definitely get the best from us. Sincerely, Alexis Walters Which step, if implemented, will most weaken the author’s case for extending the lunch break? A. installing additional candy and soda vending machines in the cafeteria B. allowing students to decide on the cafeteria menu choices C. giving additional homework to the students and encouraging them to participate in after-school activities D. introducing a homework period after lunch to allow students to complete their unfinished homework
