5. Which statement about the movement of Earth's crust along a fault line is true?

Answers

different types of movements occur along different types of faults

Answer:

Vertical

Explanation:

The normal fault is the vertical movement of the earth's crust where one part of the land moves downward concerning another. This type of fault is caused by the vertical movement of earth's crust. The tectonic movement of the earth's plates led to the formation of different landforms.

Scientists want to predict when a tornado is most likely to form. What atmospheric conditions should they look for?

Answers

The essential atmospheric condition for the occurrence of tornados are cool, dry air at middle levels in the troposphere superimposed over a layer of moist, conditionally unstable air near the surface.

What is a tornado?

A tornado is a violently rotating column of air that collides with both the Earth's surface and a cumulonimbus cloud. Tornadoes come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and they are frequently visible as a condensationfunnel originating from the base of a cumulonimbus cloud, with a cloud of rotating debris and dust beneath it.

Instability - warm moist air near the ground with cooler dry air aloft , and wind shear - a change in wind speed or direction with height are the key atmospheric ingredients that lead to tornado. An unstable airmass promotes the development of strong updrafts, while wind shear further increase the strength of the updraft, and promotes the rotation from which tornadoes are produced.

Therefore, the above-mentioned atmospheric conditions in a specific region predict the occurrence of a tornado.

Answer:

Tornado-generating storms need very specific conditions to form — moisture, temperature, and something known as wind shear, where the wind changes in strength and direction with height. The atmosphere also needs to be "unstable" — a term that indicates that if you give a bubble of air a shove, it'll accelerate upward.

Why are ocean fossils found on top of the rocky mountains?

Answers

Let's start from the beginning.

Millions and millions of years ago, planet Earth was absolutely crowded with volcanoes.

As you may know, volcanoes release steam and gasses.
As the years went by, the gasses released from volcanoes formed the atmosphere around the planet, which prevented the steam from disappearing into outer space.
The steam eventually, in cycles, began to fall back to Earth. Viola, rain had just been "invented".

As more and more rain fell, considering almost every surface of the planet was volcanic, the water began to build up and "flood" the planet. Many active volcanoes had now been transformed into underwater volcanoes.

As more and more years went by, eventually, bacteria in the water slowly began to evolve, first into jelly-fish like creatures, then tadpole-like creatures, leading all the way up to large ferocious underwater reptiles, amphibians and fish.

As the planet started to warm up, probably by methane gasses released from the prehistoric underwater creatures, the water levels on Earth began to drop again. At the same time, the active underwater volcanoes were creating new landmasses, either by lava cooling on the surface of the water or tectonic plates pushing the volcano above sea level.

So, this, is how fossils of sea creatures ended up in high land-based mountains.
Because millions of years ago, most of Earth was underwater until the water levels dropped or lands "grew" higher.
The Rocky Mountains were once underwater.

If you take a look at images of the Grand Canyon in the United States, you'll see that it resembles the deep caverns and canyons that you find at the bottom of oceans.
That's because the Grand Canyon WAS at the bottom of an ocean.
Because the mountains were once underwater but as the countries grew the water level decreased
