You roll a six-sided number cube and flip a coin. What is the probability of rolling a number less than 5 and flipping tails? Write your answer as a fraction in simplest form.

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: Since there are six sides to the dice, the probability of rolling a number less than 5 is 4/6
There are only two sides to a coin. Therefore, the probability of flipping tails is 1/2

To find what the probability of getting both things, you simply multiply both fractions.
1/2 X 4/6
1 X 4 = 4
2 X 6 = 12
4/12

Since the answer should be given in it's "simplest form", you should cancel it down. Since 12 is also divisible by 4, you divide both sides by 4.
4 ÷ 4 = 1
12 ÷ 4 = 3
1/3

The probability of rolling a number less than 5 and flipping tails is 1/3

Find the value of B - A if the graph of Ax + By = 3 passes through the point (-7, 2), and is parallel to the graph x + 3y = -5. Pls help ASAP btw, the answer isn’t -12/19 or 12/19

Answers

Answer:

B - A = -6

Step-by-step explanation:

Given

Point: (-7,2)

x + 3y = -5

Required

Find B- - A in Ax + By = 3

To start with; we need to calculate the slope of x + 3y = -5

x + 3y = -5

Subtract x from both sides

x - x + 3y = -5 - x

3y = -5 - x

Divide both sides by 3

(3y)/(3) = -(5)/(3) - (x)/(3)

y = -(5)/(3) - (x)/(3)

The slope of the line is the coefficient of x

Slope = - (1)/(3)

The question says line Ax + By = 3 is parallel to line x + 3y = -5; This means that they have the same slope of - (1)/(3)

Having calculated the slope, next is to calculate the equation of the line using the following formula;

m = (y - y_1)/(x - x_1)

Where m is the slope; m = - (1)/(3); (x_1, y_1) = (-7,2)

Substitute these values in the formula above; the formula becomes

-(1)/(3) = (y - 2)/(x - -7)

-(1)/(3) = (y - 2)/(x +7)

Cross Multiply

-1(x+7) = 3(y-2)

Open brackets

-x - 7 = 3y - 6

Add x to both sides

x - x - 7 = 3y - 6 + x

-7 = 3y - 6 +x

Add 6 to both sides

-7 + 6 = 3y -6 + 6 + x

-1 = 3y + x

Multipby both sides by -3

-3(-1) = -3(3y + x)

3 = -9y - 3x

-9y - 3x = 3

-3x - 9y = 3

Comparing the above to Ax + By = 3

Ax = -3x\nA = -3

By = -9y\nB = -9

B - A = -9 - (-3)

B - A = -9 + 3

B - A = -6

In the Chang family's budget, 0.6% of the expenses are for internet service. What fraction of the family's expenses is for internet service? Write the fraction in simplest form.

Answers

Answer: (3)/(500)

Step-by-step explanation:

Let the family's expense be x

In the Chang family's budget, 0.6% of the expenses are for internet service.

Then expense for internet service=0.6 % of x

(0.6)/(100)*\ x\n=0.006x

The fraction of family's expense is for internet service =(0.006x)/(x)=(0.006)/(1)=(6)/(1000)=(3)/(500)

Hence the fraction of family's expense is for internet expense=(3)/(500)

percent means parts out of 100
0.6%=0.6/100=6/1000=3/500

te fraction is 3/500

A skatin rink sold 66 tickets. of these 2/3 were children's tickets, and the rest were adult tickets. What total number of adults tickets were sold?

Answers

children=2\3 x 66=44
adult=66-44=22
answer=22 tickets
If 2/3 of the tickets sold were kid tickets, then 1/3 was adult tickets. 1/3 of 66 is 22 so there were 22 adult tickets sold and 44 children tickets sold. Hope this helps!!

8)   not equal, not equal, equal
9)   1/8 of a pound is in each portion
10)   $3.75

I hope this helps you. With number 8, all i did was simplify the fractions and see if the can be equal to the first fraction in the whole question and determined my answer by that. For number 9, i divided 1/2 of a pound by 2 and got 1/4 of a pound, and then divided that by 2, and i got the answer of 1/8 of a pound. When it come to number 10, i multiplied $0.50 by 7 and got $3.50, and since the last part was half a foot i knew it would cost $0.25 instead of $0.50, so i just added that to the answer and got the end result of $3.75.
