Not all of the water falls as rain, snow,or sleet evaporates. What happens to the rest of the water?

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: Hi there! All of the water returns to the atmosphere, it's called evapotranspiration and condenses. And then the water falls back to the Earth's surface and starts the cycle all over again. If you don't know what I mean, it's the Water Cycle.

Which set of procedures and observations indicates a chemical change?(1) Ethanol is added to an empty beaker and the ethanol eventually disappears.
(2) A solid is gently heated in a crucible and the solid slowly turns to liquid.
(3) Large crystals are crushed with a mortar and pestle and become powder.
(4) A cool, shiny metal is added to water in a beaker and rapid bubbling occurs.

Answers

Option 4 seems to be the one undergoing a chemical change because there is a formation gas from the bubbling that occurs. Chemical change is the change that results to the formation of a new substance. The other options given are examples of physical change.

Given the formula:The bond between which two atoms has the greatest degree of polarity?
A. C and C
B. C and O
C. H and C
D. H and O

Answers

The bond between hydrogen and oxygen has the greatest degree of polarity as there is wide electronegativity difference between the atoms.

What is an atom?

An atom is defined as the smallest unit of matter which forms an element. Every form of matter whether solid, liquid , gas consists of atoms . Each atom has a nucleus which is composed of protons and neutrons and shells in which the electrons revolve.

The protons are positively charged and neutrons are neutral and hence the nucleus is positively charged. The electrons which revolve around the nucleus are negatively charged and hence the atom as a whole is neutral and stable due to presence of oppositely charged particles.

Atoms of the same element are similar as they have number of sub- atomic particles which on combination do not alter the chemical properties of the substances.

I would say D because oxygen is a highly electronegative atom and the OH b bonding is known to have high levels of polarity for example H-O-H in water.  This is why alcohols are miscible in water eventhough they are mostly non-polar.

The CH bond is more likely to be non-polar as it is with alot of hydrocarbons.

What does the atomic mass describe?a. The mass of the protons in the atom
b. The mass of the nucleus of the atom
c. The mass of the neutrons in the atom
d. The mass of the electrons in the atom

Answers

B., the mass of the nucleus of the atom.
Both the protons and the neutrons are inside the nucleus. The atomic number of an atom is the number of protons, and if you subtract the atomic number from the atomic mass you can find the number of neutrons an atom has.
So, the mass of the protons plus the mass of the neutrons, which are both inside the nucleus, equals the atomic mass.
