Answer 1
Answer: so the question is asking: (x-4)(x-2)
because there is a bracket in between the two expressions it means we have to multiply them together: (x-4) x (x-2)

you can break down the question into smaller parts:
x multiply x
x multiply -2
-4 multiply x
-4 multiply -2

here are the answers:
x^2 (means x squared)
-2x
-4x
8 (because when you multiply two negative numbers it makes a positive)

now you put it into an expression (this is expanding):
x^2 - 2x - 4x + 8

to simplify it you collect like terms:
x^2 - 6x + 8

The above is the answer :)

When flying from Florida to the Philippines island why does the shortest route pass through Alaska?

Answers

Because the earth is round, the distance seen on a flat map is a lot further than the distance on a globe, because of distortion. So following the circle that goes through these 3 points ( Florida, Alaska and the Philippines) it is a shorter distance to fly over Alaska.

Hugh bought some magazines that cost $3.95 each and some books that cost $8.95 each. He spent a total of $47.65. Let m represent the number of magazines and b represent the number of books.

Answers

Number of magazines = m
Number of books = b

The cost of one magazine = $3.95
The cost of one book = $8.95

3.95m + 8.95b = 47.65

Answer: is c. 3.95m+8.95b=47.65

Answers

well the answer is 0 because if anything = 0 then it has to be multiplied by 0 so x = 0

x^2+7x=0
use the square root something....
(7/2)^2=49/4(add it to both sides)
x^2+7x+49/4=49/4
(x+7/2)^2=49/4
x+7/2=posinega 7/2
x=0 or x=-7

During practice, the Northwood football team drinks water from a cylindrical cooler that has a radius of 6 inches and a height of 20 inches. Players use conical paper cups, as shown below. A cone has a diameter of 4.4 inches and a height of 5.5 inches. If the water cooler is filled completely, can each of the 38 players have two full paper cups of water during practice? Explain.

Answers

Approximately 81 conical cups can fill. Therefore, each of the 38 players can fill two full paper cups of water during practice.

Given that, the radius of the cylindrical cooler=6 inches and height=20 inches.

The radius of the conical cup=2.2 inches (4.4/2) and height=5.5 inches.

What are the formulas for the volume of the cylinder and the volume of the cone?

The volume of the cylinder =πr²h and the volume of the cone =1/3 πr²h.

Now, the number of paper cups =The volume of the cylinder cooler/ The volume of the conical cup.

The volume of the cylinder cooler =π×6²×20=720π cubic inches.

The volume of the conical cup =1/3 π×(2.2)²×5.5=8.9π cubic inches.

The number of paper cups =720π/8.9 π=80.89

Approximately 81 conical cups can fill. Therefore, each of the 38 players can fill two full paper cups of water during practice.
