God sent in fiery or copper-colored serpents to punish them. They went to Moses and confessed after a few of the people were bitten and died. They admitted to complaining about God and themselves.
They requested Moses to pray to God to have the snakes removed from the camp. Instead, God instructed Moses to create a bronze serpent, mount it on a pole, and erect it in the center of the camp.
Additionally, he instructed Moses to inform the populace that anyone bitten should point their gaze toward the centre of the camp in order to see the brass serpent. If they did this, they would live.
The bronze snake symbolizes Christ's deliverance from sin. The narrative of the bronze snake in Numbers 21, which describes the Israelites' lack of faith, punishment, and recovery, does not stand alone in biblical history. Jesus made a reference to this narrative.
Thus, God sent in fiery or copper-colored serpents to punish them.
