(Please explain)
2a^4 – 49b^6

25d^12 – 36f^8

81p^6 – 16q^2

100s^9 – 9t^3

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: All of them except for the first one are differences of squares. Differences of squares is a form of factoring perfect squares. A 'perfect square' is just a fancy term that basically means you are doubling a number. Like the number 25 you multiply 5x5 to get that number and if you were to take the square root of that number you would also get 5. For it to be differences of two squares you have to have two numbers that if square rooted (in a calculater if you need one) would turn out to be a whole number or 'perfect'.

4. The point

5 1/3 units from A and

2/3

units from B

Answers

Given :

A point x whose distance from A is 5 1/3 units.

distance between x and B is 2/3 units.

To Find :

Distance between A and B if they both are on left side of straight line from x.

Solution :

Let distance between A and B is d :

d=|A-B|\n\nd=|5(1)/(3)-(2)/(3)|\n\nd=|(16)/(3)-(2)/(3)|\n\nd=(14)/(3)\n\nd=4(2)/(3)\ units

Therefore, distance between A and B is 4 2/3 units.

Hence, this is the required solution.

One number is 5 times another. The sum of their reciprocals is 2/5. Determine the smaller number.

Answers

so x=5y
reciprocal of x=1/x then

sum of reciprocals means 1/x+1/y=2/5
subsitute x=5y for x in 1/x+1/y=2/5 and get
1/5y+1/y=2/5
multiply 1/y by 5/5 to make it 5/5y so you can add since the denomenators (bottom number) are the same

1/5y+5/5y=2/5
6/5y=2/5
multiply both sides by 5y
6=2y
divide both sides by 2
3=y
put this into x=5y so
x=5(3)
x=15
y=3

Which value of x makes the following equation true?4(x - 1) = -4x + 60

A. 8
B. 12
C. 11
D. 9

Answers

The easiest way is to just solve the equation.
4x - 4 = -4x + 60
4x + 4x = 4 + 60
8x = 64
x = 8

A slower way to do this is to plug each of the numbers into the equation to see which makes the equation is true.
So for A.
4(8 - 1) = -4(8) + 60
4(7) = -32 + 60
28 = 28
Fortunately, this is true, so A is the answer and you don't have to try the other options.
It would be A because if you plug in 8 for x on each side you get 28 which makes the equation true
