Answer:

Answer:

Explanation:

Fate appears all over Beowulf. Although we find Christian elements in this epic poem, we can also find paganism and the concept of WYRD. It comes from the  AngloSaxon culture and means fate, destiny. It entails the notion that the development of events is not under the control of a person. No matter how he/she behaves the result will be what fate decides, a powerful force controlling people's lives. The word fate can be found many times in the text. When Beowulf fights against the dragon, he states:  "I meant to stand/not run from his shooting/Flames, stand still till fate decides/which of us wins." He clearly means that he has no power to change his present situation but to wait for fate to decide what will happen. It seems that, in the poem, every outcome is governed by this powerful force, every death is the result of fate deciding who is going to die. Another example is again found in Beowulf's words before he fights Grendel. His encounter with the monster will end as “Fate, overseer of men, decides.” Clearly, this epic hero will do his best to get rid of Grendel but, in the end, his succes will not depend on his bravery and skills as a warrior but on fate.

The Anglo Saxon society is no exception. They were people who migrated to Great Britain from Continental Europe. Although they were mainly Christians, they also follow some pagan beliefs. They found a way of mixing their old inheritance with new elements. Like in Beowulf, they believe fate controls their decisions, their lives was at its mercy. In my opinion, it must have been hard to do your best or fight against all odds when nothing you do can change the present or the future. They must have lived a life of hopelessness.

Answer: there are obvious examples of the Beowulf poet showing that God has the power to control everything, resulting in already determined fate. “Fate goes ever as fate must.”(Line 455)*

“What God judged right would rule what happened to every man, as it does to this day.”(Lines 2858-2859)

I know this for a fact, because when I was growing up, my mother’s “limited” English limited my perception of her. I was ashamed of her English. Read the following speech excerpt and then select the correct answer to the question below:President George W. Bush’s speech to the troops on the USS Abraham Lincoln Our mission continues. Al-Qaida is wounded, not destroyed. The scattered cells of the terrorist network still operate in many nations, and we know from daily intelligence that they continue to plot against free people. The proliferation of deadly weapons remains a serious danger. The enemies of freedom are not idle, and neither are we. Our government has taken unprecedented measures to defend the homeland — and we will continue to hunt down the enemy before he can strike. The war on terror is not over, yet it is not endless. We do not know the day of final victory, but we have seen the turning of the tide. No act of the terrorists will change our purpose, or weaken our resolve, or alter their fate. Their cause is lost. Free nations will press on to victory. Other nations in history have fought in foreign lands and remained to occupy and exploit. Americans, following a battle, want nothing more than to return home. And that is your direction tonight. After service in the Afghan and Iraqi theaters of war — after 100,000 miles, on the longest carrier deployment in recent history — you are homeward bound. Some of you will see new family members for the first time — 150 babies were born while their fathers were on the Lincoln. Your families are proud of you, and your nation will welcome you. How does the sentence “Our mission continues” support the central idea of the speech? It supports the idea that service people returning home will be called back out quite soon. It supports the main point that this is an ongoing fight that America will not abandon. It challenges the notion that Al-Qaida is an enemy worthy of the human and financial cost of war. It adds to the idea that it is essential to remove any American military presence in other lands.

Can anyone help me think of points for why self control ISNT the reason for obesity?

Answers

Answer: Self control isn't the reason for obesity because:

Explanation: People can't always control themselves not because they don't have self control but because everything in the world can affect you and/or make you make decisions.

Answer:

I would say it shouldn't be considered THE reason since there's other things that can cause it

Explanation:

I think there are way more reasons than simply not being able to control yourself. For example, some people can't afford healthy food, some food might simply contain too much calories even if it comes in small portions, lack of exercise can cause obesity, genetics can also play an important role in obesity meaning that genes might increase a person's likelihood of gaining weight, health conditions can also cause it, and lastly, there are other factors such as stress and lack of sleep. I hope this helps.

Supporting evidence should be presented ina. the introduction, right after the thesis statement.
b. the body, right after subtopic statements.
c. the conclusion, to give weight to closing arguments.
d. all sections of the essay, so that the thesis is supported throughout.

Answers

The correct answer is B. The body, right after subtopic statements.

It's not everywhere because you should not provide new supporting evidence in the conclusion. Conclusions should restate and paraphrase what was previously mentioned. The introduction is not it as well because there is usually nothing after the thesis statement as it has a tendency to be the final sentence in the introduction paragraph.
