During the Watergate scandal, the two reporters who broke the details, Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein, worked for the _____. New York Post / D.C. Sentinel/ Washington Post / New York Times

Answers

Answer 1
Answer:

Answer:  Washington  Post

Details:

"Watergate" refers to efforts by persons working for President Nixon's reelection campaign to spy on their opponents at Democratic party headquarters, and subsequent efforts to cover up those crimes.

The first break-in attempt by burglars working on Nixon's behalf occurred  in May, 1972, as persons connected to the Nixon reelection campaign broke into the Democratic National Committee office in the Watergate complex of buildings in Washington, DC.  They were planting wire-taps on the Democrats' phone lines, and also stole copies of documents.  When the wire-taps didn't work properly, they broke in again (in June) to try to fix the surveillance devices, but they were caught.

An insider at the FBI who remained anonymous at the time, known only as "Deep Throat," began to give information concerning Watergate to reporters Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein of the Washington Post.   Persistent investigative reporting by Woodward and Bernstein brought the scandal to light and forced Congressional hearings.   (Note:  Years later it was revealed that Deep Throat was Mark Felt, who at the time was Associate Director of the FBI.)

Nixon's role in Watergate was especially in his efforts and those of members of his staff to cover up what had happened.  Ultimately, the Watergate affair brought down the Nixon presidency.  He resigned in order to avoid impeachment.  And the whole affair made Americans more distrusting of government.

Select the country in Africa that was subjected to apartheid laws once the Afrikaners, or original Dutch settlers, came to power.

Answer:

South Africa.

Explanation:

Apartheid was a system of institutionalized segregation and racism that existed from 1948 to 1990 in South Africa (and what is now known as Namibia). This nefarious institution dictated that black Africans could not use the same public facilities as the white minority, nor could they have access to the same employment opportunities or housing facilities.

This was South Africa that was subjected to these laws

3. How were slaves in the North treated differently? Why?

Answers

Answer:

The treatment of slaves varied between the North and the South. Slavery was less prevalent in the North, where the economy and environment were less dependent on vast plantations. There were consequently fewer slaves in the North. Additionally, slavery was abolished more quickly in the North than in the South.

Slaves in the North sometimes endured severe conditions, but they frequently had more prospects for freedom and education. Some Northern states started to enact legislation for gradual emancipation, enabling slaves to gain freedom over time. Due to its proximity to Canada and free states, the North also offered greater opportunities for slaves to reach freedom. Overall, despite the fact that slavery existed in the North, it was less pervasive and less deeply rooted in the economy and society, which resulted in some disparities in how slaves were treated and their access to opportunities.

How did the French Revolution influence African slaves in France's Caribbean colonies?A. It officially freed them from forced labor on farms.
B. It demonstrated that republics were too unstable for the Caribbean.
C. It proved that nonviolent resistance could create political change.
D. It inspired them to launch their own political revolution.

Answers

Answer:

D. It inspired them to launch their own political revolution.

Explanation:

The French Revolution was a social and political conflict, with various periods of violence, which convulsed France and, by extension of its implications, other nations of Europe that faced supporters and opponents of the system known as the Old Regime. It began with the self-proclamation of the Third State as a National Assembly in 1789 and ended with the coup d'état of Napoleon Bonaparte in 1799.

Although, after the First Republic fell after the coup d'état of Napoleon Bonaparte, the political organization of France during the nineteenth century oscillated between republic, empire and constitutional monarchy, the truth is that the revolution marked the final end of feudalism and of absolutism in that country, and gave birth to a new regime where the bourgeoisie, supported sometimes by the popular masses, became the dominant political force in the country. The revolution undermined the foundations of the monarchical system as such, beyond its death throes, to the extent that it overthrew it with a discourse and initiatives capable of rendering it illegitimate.

Answers

There are lots of religions in the worlds and some of them have spread wide enough to reach the places very far from its origin. The reason for the spread fo the religions is that many of them have books which are distributed to people and also some of them send missionaries especially to areas that are not reached by the civilization easily.

Final answer:

Major religions such as Christianity and Islam spread through various methods including military conquest, commercial exchange, and cultural diffusion. Trade routes, missionary work, and the establishment of religious institutions in new communities also played a key role in the proliferation of these religions globally.

Explanation:

Major religions often spread through various methods, notably military conquest, commercial exchange, and cultural diffusion. For instance, belief systems like Christianity and Islam proliferated throughout regions like Africa through all of these methods. The process varied in its complexity and involved different challenges for conquerors and merchants.

The religion of Islam for instance, spread through a combination of imperial conquest, trade, missionary work, and migration. Local communities provided a consistent environment for the establishment of Islamic religious institutions, aiding in the diffusion of the religion. Similarly, Christianity spread through preaching and proselytizing, with elite Christian thinkers playing a vital role in disseminating religious knowledge.

Trade routes also played a central role in the spread of major religions. In the wake of Muslim traders penetrating the Sindh area of northwest India, for instance, Islamic influence spread far beyond commercial exchange. Networks, such as the Silk Roads, also enabled the diffusion of religions like Islam and Christianity throughout Asia, Africa, and the Balkans.
