Describe Earth's energy budget. How is energy absorbed and reflected from the surface.

Answers

Answer 1
Answer:

Earth's energy budget:

The earth’s energy budget is nothing but the balance maintained between the energy received from the sun, the energy that is being radiated back into the outer space after being distributed among  five components. About 50% of the energy received are being absorbed by the surface of earth that can be lad or oceans. Then 30% will be directly reflected back or returned back to the space by the clouds as the earth’s surface has different gases and particles present in it. And the rest 20% is being absorbed by the atmosphere or the clouds.Energy released from the Sun is given out as ultraviolet energy and  shortwave light .

A coral reef is the product of tiny animals—invertebrates related to jellyfish. Inside the tissues of coral animals live microscopic algae that provide all of the dazzling colors associated with reefs. Sometimes, coral animals lose their algae, a condition known as bleaching because the coral suddenly looks white. In recent years, bleaching has affected more and more reef systems all over the world. What do scientists think is causing coral bleaching?
A.
pollution from chlorine dumping
B.
overfishing around the reef
C.
cooler ocean temperatures
D.
warmer ocean temperatures
answer
D.
warmer ocean temperatures

Answers

Answer: D.  warmer ocean temperatures

Explanation:

The coral polyp is an organism which colonizes with other members of the same species to form coral reef of hard skeleton of calcium carbonate. These organisms forms a mutualistic relationship with the algae called as zooxanthellae. The algae share oxygen, food prepared after photosynthesis and also provides them with color and the algae obtains shelter from the coral population.

Coral bleaching is a phenomena of removal of the algal colony from the surface of the coral reef. This occurs due to the change in temperature of the oceanic water. The increase in the temperature of the oceanic water swells up the algae and this leads to the removal of the algal colony from the coral reef. The coral reef get exposed to the external water environment becomes white due to loss of the algal colony from the surface. This  is a kind of natural bleaching effect.

It’s d. Warmer ocean temperatures but you also wrote that the answer is d in your question lol

What is the BEST explanation of how two organelles work together to maintain homeostasis within a cell? A) Golgi bodies (#3) sort, refine, and package lipids used by the ER (#7) when making proteins.

B) Ribosomes (#1) manufacture proteins to be broken down for immediate energy by the mitochondria (#2).

C) Chloroplasts (#2) convert solar energy to make simple sugars which are then used by the mitochondria (#5) to provide energy for the cell.

D) Mitochondria (#3) produce energy molecules which are digested by lysosomes (#8) to provide energy for cellular processes.

Answers

The best explanation of how two (2) cell organelles work together to maintain homeostasis within a cell is: C) Chloroplasts (#2) convert solar energy to make simple sugars which are then used by the mitochondria (#5) to provide energy for the cell.

A cell refers to the fundamental (basic) functional, structural and smallest unit of life for all living organisms. Some examples of cell organelles found in all living organisms include;

  • Nucleus.
  • Mitochondria.
  • Lysosomes.
  • Chromosomes.
  • Ribosomes.
  • Endoplasmic reticulum.
  • Cytoskeleton.
  • Vesicles.
  • Golgi apparatus.
  • Cell membrane.
  • Chloroplasts.

Homeostasis can be defined as a biological process through which a living organism maintains a stable (steady) an internal, chemical and physical environment that is ideal to sustain life and enhance proper functionality.

In Plants, homeostasis takes place into two (2) distinct stages;

I. Chloroplasts convert solar energy to make simple sugars through photosynthesis.

II. These simple sugars are then used by mitochondria to provide the required amount of energy for the cell.

How does mitosis provide for genetic consistency in an organism and why is this important?

Answers

Mitosis is Asexual reproduction. It promotes genetic consistency because all offspring are exactly identical to the parent, unlike meiosis where homologous chromosomes are randomly dispersed between four daughter cells. organisms that only reproduce asexually are at a disadvantage because all organisms in their population are identical so if there were to be a major environmental change, they would have less of a chance of survival compared to a population of sexually reproducing organisms that are all genetically different.

1. Which of the following can be considered fomites: A. Door handle, soap dispenser, a dog infected with rabies virus B. Pencils, a mosquito, unwashed iceberg salad C. Blood pressure cuff, towels, bitten cookies D. All choices are correct 2. An insect that transmits causative agent from infected organism to uninfected one is a/an A. Fomes B. Direct transmitter C. Vector D. Inoculum

Answers

Answer:

1) C. Blood pressure cuff, towels, bitten cookies

2) C. Vector

Explanation:

1) C. Fomities are things that tend to carry infections. Here C is the most plausible answer

2) C. Vector. You often hear this when we talk about diseases that can spread like when mosquitoes spread disease, they act as vector

Final answer:

Fomites are non-living objects that can carry and transmit disease. In your question, the correct answer for fomites would be option C. For the second question, an insect transmitting a disease agent is known as a vector. Option c is the correct answer.

Explanation:

The term fomites refers to inanimate objects that, when contaminated with or exposed to infectious agents (such as bacteria, viruses, fungi), can transfer disease to a new host. Option A. Door handle, soap dispenser, a dog infected with rabies virus is partly correct because while door handles and soap dispensers can be fomites, a dog cannot be as it is a living organism. Similarly, option B. Pencils, a mosquito, unwashed iceberg salad partly fits the definition, but again, a mosquito (a living organism) can't be a fomite, it acts as a vector. Finally, option C. Blood pressure cuff, towels, bitten cookies are all non-living objects and thus can be considered as fomites. This means the answer to your first question isn't D. All choices are correct, but rather it's C. Blood pressure cuff, towels, bitten cookies.

In your second question, an insect that transmits a causative agent from an infected organism to an uninfected one is called a vector. So, the answer is C. Vector.
