Veins gradually increase in size and converge into the superior and inferior vena cava, which return deoxygenated blood to the right side of the heart. The right side of the heart pumps this deoxygenated blood to the lungs through the pulmonary arteries, where it gets oxygenated and releases carbon dioxide. Oxygenated blood then returns to the left side of the heart through the pulmonary veins, completing the circulation loop.

This continuous cycle of blood flow ensures that every organ and tissue in the body receives the necessary oxygen and nutrients while waste products are efficiently removed. It is through this complex network of blood vessels and the pumping action of the heart that the circulatory system operates at the organ level, maintaining the overall functioning and health of the body.
