Which describes how proteins are used in mating by Japanese beetles? A.Male and female beetles combine proteins to form offspring. B.Proteins allow beetles to produce more ribosomes. C.Males use a protein to detect pheromones sent by females. D.Lipids are stored in proteins and used for reproduction.

Answers

Answer 1
Answer:

The answer is C. Pheromones are hormones (which are proteinous) produces by individuals of the same species and are a means to send communication signals for social interactions. They signal alarm, food and even sex. Sex pheromones are  released by females beetles into the environment to signal their availability for mating. The pheromones are picked up by receptors on the male beetles and this is how they find the females.

Answer 2
Answer: I think the correct answer from the choices listed above is option C. Proteins are used in mating by Japanese beetles by detecting pheromones sent by the female beetles. Hope this answers the question. Have a nice day.

Why have improvements in microscopes over time resulted in revisions in the cell theory? They have revealed new information about cell structure and processes. They have made microscopes easier to use. They have allowed scientists to share pictures of the cells being studied. They have made it possible to confirm what scientists already suspected.

Answers

Answer;

They have revealed new information about cell structure and processes.

Explanation;

-The Cell Theory states that, All living things are made up of cells, Cells are the basic units of structure and function in living things, and that new cells are produced from existing cells.

-Most microscopes use lenses to magnify the image of an object by focusing light or electrons.

-The Invention of the Microscope helped the development of the cell theory because it allowed the scientists to actually discover that everything was made up of cells, and what cells do to come up with that theory. If the scientists did not see that cells existed, they could not have observed the cells easily and they would not be able to construct the cell theory.

A flexible, supporting structure found only in chordates is the notochord. The correct option among all the options that are given in the question is the second option or option "B".

Ancient chordates are thought to be most closely related to sea stars. The correct option among all the options that are given in the question is the last option or option "D".

The notochord is a flexible, supporting structure found only in chordates. Ancient chordates are most closely related to octopi.

The correct answer for the first question is B. notochord. The notochord is a flexible, supporting structure found only in chordates.

It provides support to the body and serves as a precursor to the vertebral column in vertebrates. Examples of chordates include fish, birds, and mammals.

The correct answer for the second question is C. octopi. Ancient chordates are thought to be most closely related to cephalopods like octopi.

Both groups share certain characteristics in their body structure and development.

Why was the founder species of finches on the Galápagos Islands able to form such a large variation of beak types?

Answers

Through natural selection it happened over many generations and it was gradual, not a sudden change in the founder species. One bird was randomly born with a fatter beak and so could eat a seed that was harder to crack, this meant he lived longer than the other birds or was fitter, so bred more and so more of the offspring had this slightly larger beak. This continued and the birds moved to the islands with their ideal seed and kept getting fatter beaks etc until they were no longer the same species (this is when they can't breed to produce fertile offspring).
