            Ideal citizens are responsible for completing duties to make our democratic government work. Duties are an obligation to do your civic job. Citizens are required to do these civic jobs such as obeying the law; Citizens have to obey laws of their country but they would also have to know what the laws are. Paying taxes; Citizens don’t like paying taxes but they have to pay taxes, so the government can provide services. Taxes pay for police and fire protection including other services. Taxes also pay for schools, electricity, and other needs for the citizens and the community. Serving in the armed forces; Citizens have to defend our country if threatened. Volunteers such as militias or armies fought every war. Only men who registered and meet the qualifications cam serve in the military. Citizens have to protect our country. Appealing in court; Citizens must serve as members of a jury if they called to do so. Citizens must sacrifice and take time off other things to serve on jury; they get paid for their quality time. Citizens must also testify in court, they are considered witnesses. In order to appear as witnesses, citizens must serve on jury duty.
Civic responsibilities are defined as responsibilities of citizens.  Ideal citizens have responsibilities that they’re required to complete including be informed meaning reading newspaper, follow current events for the community, state, country and world. Be involved meaning vote, attend meetings, volunteering, and work to support the community or political candidate. Practice civic virtues meaning help the homeless and elderly, follow rules and laws, and work in a local place who needs help. Ideal citizens ensure and uphold these values.
