Is the underlined participial phrase correctly placed or misplaced?Continuing to stir the soup, the phone rang and my mother answered it.

Underlined words: Continuing to stir the soup

A.
correctly placed participial phrase

B.
misplaced participial phrase

Answers

The underlined participial phrase which is "continuing to stir the soup", is placed incorrectly. The correct sentence should be, "The phone rang and my mother, continuing to stir the soup, answered it". Why is it misplaced? Putting the participial phrase at the beginning of the sentence makes it a dangling modifier because it does not clearly state the specific word it modifies. In the corrected sentence, it is clear now who is being described with the phrase "continuing to stir the soup", which is the "mother".

Who were the 5 hunters in most dangerous game?

The game starts, and Dodge eventually encounters and avoids the five hunters: Nixon, a gentlemanly British man who strictly adheres to the rules of the hunt; Reagan, a cowboy from the South; Carter, a psychologist who uses Dodge's profile to predict his next move; Kennedy, a martial arts expert; and LBJ, an older man Dodge saw.

A guy in financial need who has an incurable brain tumor agrees to play a game in which he will be pursued by strangers who want to kill him, but if he survives to the end of the game, he will receive a reward.

Thus, readers wonder what the papers signify does the fact that names are called and people select their piece of paper work to create suspense.

I think all are right- except number 3. In the story "The Most Dangerous Game", (which is based off a true story, actually) the beginning does go over Whitney and rainsford's plans to go hunting, however the question asks for what created Suspense, and I shivered when they began talking about cannibals and such. I believe the answer to that would be c, since suspense and mystery (the word was in the answer c) are closely related.

The reader learns much about Boswell from his biography of Johnson. Write a brief character sketch of Boswell. Analyze the friendship between the two men and the influence each had on the other. Did their personal relationship compromise or enhance The Life of Samuel Johnson?

Answers

Answer:

Explanation:

James Boswell was a young man from Edinburgh, although his family wanted him to be a lawyer he knew he was going to be a biographer. His father was a Lord, because he was a judge, so they were named lords and they could choose the place they would be Lords. Sometimes, he was considered as a ridiculous man who luckily met Johnson to write his biography.

They were completely different, Boswell was on his twenties,  came from an aristocrat family, while Johnson was not that young, he was a famous man who came from a humble family. It is said that people are rejuvenated by younger people and this could have happened in the relationship between Boswell and Johnson.

Slow is to quick as always is to. is it a synonym or antonym

Answers

Slow is an antonym for quick, which means OPPOSITE
So if you were to think of a word that is the OPPOSITE of always, you would say never.

ANTONYM: opposite of word, ie slow is the antonym of run
SYNONYM: the same as a word, ie tiny, small, mini are SYNONYMS of the word little

I hope this helps!
