Answer: Depends. Immigrants as a whole probably have it better now, as there are a lot of social programs. The US is a lot less racist now as well, even if it doesn’t seem like it. Immigrants in the past were given American names, they were crammed on a boat, and when they got here they did menial labor. A lot of this labor was extremely dangerous. Such as coal mining and chimney sweeping. Today immigrants sometimes still have to take less desirable jobs but there are a lot more laws and regulations. So I think being an immigrant in the past was probably worse.
