Read this excerpt from The Land, Part 4. Mitchell looked up, first at Hammond, then at me, and I felt my knees go weak. "Yeah," he mumbled, his eyes fixed on me, and at that moment I knew that my troubles with Mitchell were far from over. And I was right. What does this excerpt show about the relationship between Paul and Mitchell? Their conflicts have been resolved. Their conflicts will teach them something. Their conflicts are still unresolved. Their conflicts will turn them into friends.

"The Land" is a novel that was written by Mildred D. Taylor and it was published in 2001. It is the prequel of a series that is called "The Logan Family saga". This story narrates the experiences and life of main character Paul-Edward Logan, from the time he is 9 years old till he fulfills his dream of acquiring "the Land". Many adventures and events happen to this character as his life moves along, one of which is the change in his relationship with Mitchell, another one of the characters, and who at the beginning seems to be the antagonist. From being enemies (Mitchell bullied Paul), to best friends and enterprice companions. The story of "The Land", then begins with a 9-year-old Paul, who is the son of a white landowner and a black woman. Many other black families live inside the Logan´s land and one of them is Mitchell Thomas and his family. Because of his biraciallity, Paul faces a lot of problems, and the worst is with Mitchell, who bullies him constantly. It is not until much later that Paul and Mitchell grow to become the best of friends and allies.

In this particular excerpt, Hammond and George, who are Paul´s oldest brothers, go to Mitchell to talk to him and end up demanding that Mitchell leave Paul alone. Later on, after that scene, the problems between the two continue until a deal is struck between the two children and thereafter change completely when Paul protects Mitchell from the consequences of injuring one of Paul´s father´s priced horses. The correct answer here then is: Their conflicts are still unresolved. For a long while Paul and Mitchell continue having trouble, despite Paul´s brothers´ invervention and a deep reflection ensues from Paul on his bi-racial nature and the reason why Mitchell hates him.

Bruce never served a day, he died while appealing his conviction Bruce was officially pardoned by New
York Governor George Pataki in 2003—the first posthumous pardon in New York history. Pataki claimed
that the pardon was "a declaration of New York's commitment to upholding the First Amendment," which
guarantees freedom of speech.
Question
Governor Pataki implied that Lenny Bruce should not have
O used profane language
been found guilty
O appealed his conviction
o violated the First Amendment

Answers

Answer:

Governor Pataki implied that Lenny Bruce should not have been found guilty.

Explanation:

By pardoning Lenny Bruce, Governor George Pataki implied that Bruce should not have been found guilty. All Bruce did was use profane language during a stand-up comedy routine. That wasn't something he should've been sentenced for, and Pataki realizes that. The First Amendment guarantees the freedom of speech, and by sentencing Bruce to imprisonment for obscene language, the judge violated that right.
