Answer 1
Answer: I think the easiest way to answer all of these is to just go ahead and find the equation of the line first.

I'm pretty sure that by the time you reach this problem, you've learned to find
theequation of a line that passes through two given points.  You have twopoints:  (2, 100) and (5, 205).  The equation of the line through themis [ y = 35x + 30 ].

6).  The initial membership fee ... the cost for walking in the door and signing up,
before any months, is $30.  (Also the y-intercept.)

7).  The cost per month is $35.  (The slope of the line.)

8).  We already did that, up above.  [  y = 35x + 30 ].

9).  'x' in the equation is the number of months.
There are 12 months in one year.

y = 35(12) + 30 = $450

-29    -29    subtract 29 from both sides because you want the constants                  ----------   (numbers) on one side and the variable on the other
d= 25

DO THE SAME THING WITH ALL THE OTHER NUMBERS

John earned three dollars for each lawn he mowed. If he had eight lawns to mow, but forget mow two of them, how much money did he actually earn?

Answers

If John had to mow 8 lawns, but he forgot to mow 2 lawns, we have to subtract 2 from 8 to see how many lawns he actually mowed.

8-2=6

John mowed 6 lawns!

For each lawn John mowed, he earned 3 dollars. So, we have to multiply the number of lawns he mowed, 6, by the amount of dollars he earned per lawn, 3. Multiplying 6*3 is the same as adding 3+3+3+3+3+3!

6*3=18

John earned $18!

Hope I helped! :)

Answer:  slope = -3/2

Explanation

Two points on the diagonal line are (0,0) and (4,-6).

To go from (0,0) to (4,-6) we do two things:

  • Go down 6
  • Go right 4

"Down 6, right 4" means the slope is -6/4 = -3/2

We could also use the slope formula to get the same answer.

(x_1,y_1) = (0,0) \text{ and } (x_2,y_2) = (4,-6)\n\nm = \text{slope} = \frac{\text{rise}}{\text{run}} = \frac{\text{change in y}}{\text{change in x}}\n\nm = \frac{\text{y}_(2) - \text{y}_(1)}{\text{x}_(2) - \text{x}_(1)}\n\nm = (-6 - 0)/(4 - 0)\n\nm = (-6)/(4)\n\nm = -(3)/(2)\n\n

The slope is -3/2
