Which sentence is punctuated correctly? A) Robert wanted a new car however, he couldn't afford to buy one.

B) Robert wanted a new car however; he couldn't afford to buy one.

C) Robert wanted a new car; however he couldn't afford to buy one.

D) Robert wanted a new car; however, he couldn't afford to buy one.

Answers

The correct answer is actually D), not A.
Although these are independent clauses indeed, the punctuation in A,B, and C is not correct.
Before 'however' there needs to be a semicolon (;). And after however, you have to put a comma. Therefore D is the correct answer.
After a comma there needs to be a pause in reading. Does A sound correct to you if you make a pause before 'however' and not after it? Of course not.

Answer:

D) Robert wanted a new car; however, he couldn't afford to buy one.

Explanation:

Two sentences can be joined with a semi-colon. The conjunctive adverb "however" must be followed by a comma. Robert wanted a new car; however, he couldn't afford to buy one. is correct.

In the given sentence, the word beginning is a verbal, it is a type of participle verbal. Verbal is used to relate to different words present which makes the sentence.

What is Verbal?

A verbal is a word which is formed by a verb but it is functioning as a different part of the speech. "Infinitive" is a verbal which is formed by placing it in front of the simple present form of a verb in a sentence. For example: to read, to be, to cut, etc. Infinitives may function as an adjective, an adverb, or a noun.

There are three types of verbal generally which includes participles, gerunds, and infinitives. Each of these verbal can be used itself or as a part of a verbal phrase. Participle verbal is an infinite verb which is formed of the characteristics and functions of both verbs and adjectives. A participle has been defined more narrowly as a word which is derived from a verb and used as an adjective, as in the beginning.

Whatprocess makes your writing flow and “sound like music?” a.Editing thelanguage of your essay      c.Editing thetitle of your essay    b.Editing the punctuation of youressay  d.None ofthese

Answers

My best answer would most likely be a. Editing the language of your essay.
Editing the title is only a first impression and could be followed by a piece of writing lacking in flow. Editing punctuation would be my second choice, but it doesn't apply as much, in my opinion. And for the last choice, I'm pretty sure at least on of the three are practical options.

The process that makes your writing flow and "sound like music" is option A. editing the language of your essay. Editing the punctuation will only change the speed of the reading of the writing, Meanwhile, when deciding the words you will implement in the essay you can create different sounds that could result in a type of music. For instance, you can repeat the consonants or vowels to create a sound and the resource known as alliteration gives a sentence flow.

Which of these sentences uses the passive voice?A. You can succeed if you set goals and work hard.
B. If I set goals and work hard, I can succeed.
C. Success can be achieved by setting goals and working hard.

Answers

Answer:

  C. Success can be achieved by setting goals and working hard.

Explanation:

The passive voice is used to show interest in the person or object that experiences the action rather than the person or object that performs the action. This type of voice is used in formal texts, passing it to the active voice will make the writing clearer and easier to read.

In the answer given the object that experiences the action is the word "success" and receives the "set of goals and work hard".

I hope this answer helps you.

Since A and B are both sentences which use the active voice, the correct answer is C, where 'can be achieved' is the passive form.
