Read the selection below from Charles H. Wesley, "The Negro Has Always Wanted the Four Freedoms," in What the Negro Wants (1944). [Negroes] have wanted what other citizens of the United States have wanted. They have wanted freedom and opportunity. They have wanted the pursuit of the life vouchsafed to all citizens of the United States by our own liberty documents. They have wanted freedom of speech, [but] they were supposed to be silently acquiescent in all aspects of their life. … They have wanted freedom of religion, for they had been compelled to "steal away to Jesus" … in order to worship God as they desired. … They have wanted freedom from want. … However, the Negro has remained a marginal worker and the competition with white workers has left him in want in many localities of an economically sufficient nation. They have wanted freedom from fear. They have been cowed, browbeaten or beaten, as they have marched through the years of American life. … The Negro wants democracy to begin at home. … The future of our democratic life is insecure so long as the hatred, disdain and disparagement of Americans of African ancestry exist. … Why does Wesley believe that black Americans are denied the Four Freedoms?

They were supposed to be silently acquiescent in all aspects of their lives, did not have freedom of religion because they were compelled to "steal away Jesus" in order to worship God as they desired, freedom from want still in obtained, remained a marginal worker w/competition w/ whites, and (free from fear) they have been cowed, beaten through American life. Because black Americans are not free from color/race restrictions, of imperialism and exploitation, and not being included in participation of minorities all over the world in their own governments. unable to vote in south, segregation, and restriction on American standard of living.

Do you think it is a positive or negative development that the responsibilities of the Vice President have increased from the original responsibilities listed in the constitution

Answers

In my opinion it is a positive development that the vice president's resppnsibilities have increased. The reason is that in this way the vice president can demonstrate and prove that he is able to be in charge of the government in case anything happened to the president.

Answer:

In countries where the presidential system exists, it is usual to see also a vice president, who assumes mostly a figurative role, rather than a central active one, as his main purpose is to be ready if the need arises, to replace the president.

However, in many countries around the world, including the U.S, this figurative role has been exchanged for a more active one, and in the U.S most especially, the vice president now is also known as the leader of the Senate, and therefore the head of Congress. He has also been given further roles as member of the cabinet, replacing the President in many engagements in which once, he had no say, and no vote.

To my view, this is a positive development because one issue that has always existed with the position of vice president is that it is expensive to maintain, yet useless. That has changed with the increase in responsibilities given to the vice president. Second, it adds strength to the executive branch, allowing it to cover more ground than when it was just the President attending to all the needs of the nation. Third, in many regards, the vice president can become the positive image of a president, and he can give a good public image to the government that is presiding at the moment. So, given all these reasons, I see it as a positive development.

What made south Carolina able to become one of England most profitable colonies

Answers

The South Carolina Colony was one of the 13 original colonies in America, which were divided into three regions including the New England Colonies, the Middle Colonies, and the Southern Colonies. The South Carolina Colony was originally one colony along with the North Carolina, which was founded in 1633 under the Charter of Carolina. In 1712 the original colony was divided into North and South Carolina. In 1729 the South Carolina Colony became a royal colony.

South Carolina territory was very privileged, with natural resources as forests, fish, and land suitable for farming and large plantations. In this land, they grew a variety of crops including cotton, tobacco, vegetables, fruit, and livestock. The plantations in the South Carolina Colony were often massive, and the warm climate of the Southern Colonies made it suitable for farming and agricultural pursuits most of the year.

But the main reason was the open use of slave labour, that along with the resources above, made this colony so profitable to the eight Lord Proprietors and to King Charles II.

South Carolina and the Georgia lowcountry were known for rice cultivation. Africans brought this planting technology with them from the Rice Coast of West Africa. Another important and extremely profitable crop was indigo, which was used as a dye. These crops made this region extremely profitable for the English.
