Thank you Philo for your answer. I have one more question for you regarding the same rectangular prism that is 3 units long, 2 units wide and has 7 layers and 42 cubic units, how many cubes of the prism would have exactly one face showing on the outside? Please

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: Alright. So we have a rectangular prism 3 long, 2 wide, and 7 high. That would have a volume of 42 because the volume of a rectangular prism is it's length times its width times its height. Now the question is if that prism is made up of cubic centimeter cubes, how many are on the outside? My strategy for this would be to find how many are on the inside. If we were to subtract two from every measurement (getting rid of cubes on the outside, essentially) we would be left with the volume of the cubes that don't touch the outside. Make sense?

3 - 2 = 1
2 - 2 = 0
7 - 2 = 5

So suppose we have a rectangular prism with measurements 1, 0, and 5. The volume is 1*0*5 which is...0. Because the prism is 2 cubes thick, there's nothing that's NOT on the outside. With another similar problem, however, that is how you would solve it.

cos A = Ad / AB
tan 26.57 = AB / 17.89
so AB = 17.89 * tan 26.57 = 8.9469
By pythagoras
Bd = sqrt ( 17.89^2 - 16^2) =  8
AD =  sqrt (8.9469^2 - 8^2) =  4.006

cos A =  4.006/  8.9469 = 0.447

Does the equation x2 - 6x + y2 - 6y = -9 intersect the y-axis? A) Yes, it intersects the y-axis at (0, 3). B) Yes, it intersects the y-axis at (3, 0). C) No, because the circle is entirely in the first quadrant. D) No, because the center is a (3, 3) and the radius is 9.

Answers

Answer:

The answer to your question is letter A

Step-by-step explanation:

Data

             x² -  6x + y² - 6y = -9

Process

1.- Find the center

            x² - 6x + (  )²  + y² - 6y + (  )² = -9

            x² - 6x + (3)² + y² - 6y + (3)² = -9 + 9 + 9

            (x - 3)² + (y - 3)² = 9

Center = (3, 3)

radius = 3

See the graph below

2.- From the previous information and the graph, we conclude that the equation intercepts the y-axis in (0,3)

a population of 1200 leopards decreases by 12% per year. How many leopards will there be in the population after 6 years? Round your answer to the nearest whole number.

Answers

Answer:

557

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that a population of 1200 leopards decreases by 12% per year.

So, we will use exponential function:a_n=a_0(1-r)^x

Where a_n is the population left.

a_0 is the initial population.

r = rate of decrease

x = time

Now a_0=1200

r =12%=0.12

x = 6 years

Substitute the values.

a_n=1200(1-0.12)^6

a_n=1200(0.464404086784)

a_n=557.28

Thus there will be 557 leopards in the population after 6 years.

After 6 years approximately 557 leopards would be left.
