PLEASE HELP, WILL MARK BRAINLESTRead the third paragraph from Muir's essay "Calypso Borealis" and answer the question. [3] But when the sun was getting low and everything seemed most bewildering and discouraging, I found beautiful Calypso on the mossy bank of a stream, growing not in the ground but on a bed of yellow mosses in which its small white bulb had found a soft nest and from which its one leaf and one flower sprung. The flower was white and made the impression of the utmost simple purity like a snowflower. No other bloom was near it, for the bog a short distance below the surface was still frozen, and the water was ice cold. It seemed the most spiritual of all the flower people I had ever met. I sat down beside it and fairly cried for joy. Select two words or phrases from the text that demonstrate Muir's scientific approach to nature. "most bewildering" "bed of yellow mosses" "small white bulb" "utmost simple purity" "cried for joy"

write a summary of Okonkwo’s character in Things Fall Apart, including an explanation of how his interactions with other characters advance the themes of the novel. Provide details from the novel to support your response.

Answers

Okonkwo is a very strong and fierce man. Apart from that he is successful but the problem with him is that he does not want to express his softer side because he considers this to be weak.  He disowns his son Nwoye for the simple reason that he reminds him of his father.  He has a better relationship with his daughter Enzima who is tough like him.  Had he been more honest with himself things would have turned out  differently.

Which of the following would be appropriate supporting materials to use in a persuasive speech addressing a question of fact?a. statistics
b. personal narratives
c. emotional appeals
d. all of the above

Answers

The correct answer is A. Statistics

Explanation:

Supporting material is any type of material or information that helps the speaker to support and prove his ideas as valid during a presentation or speech. This includes anecdotes, scientific articles, experts' words, examples, personal narratives, and statistics. Additionally, the type of evidence or material that is used mainly depends on the level of formality of the speech and the purpose of it. In the case of formal speeches that aim at persuading the audience and rely on facts the speaker would need to include only supporting materials that rely on facts and objective evidence rather than personal narratives, informal examples or anecdotes that rely on the author experience as in this case external evidence would show the audience the ideas of the speaker have been proved or proposed by others. Thus, the supporting material to use in a persuasive speech addressing a question of fact that would be most appropriate is statistics.
