I need help writing a 5+ sentence summary about this passage!!!Benefits of Biotech in NC North Carolina is an attractive terrain for biotechnology firms—from 2001 to 2010, the state experienced the highest job growth rate (23.5%) of any of the top biotechnology states in the country. Since 2001, the popularity of NC as a biotech destination has resulted in the creation of more than 12,000 jobs in pharmaceuticals, research, testing and medical labs, agricultural feedstock and chemical industries. All have shown robust growth. Related imageStudents in NC have more opportunities to enter the field of biotechnology after graduation than in most states thanks to two very important research centers. The North Carolina Research Center located in Kannapolis and Research Triangle Park near Raleigh, are very important to the NC economy. Both of these facilities bring in tax revenue to our state and offer job opportunities in many science-based fields of study. Image result for research triangleMore than 250 companies and 50,000 people with expertise in fields such as micro-electronics, telecommunications, biotechnology, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, and environmental sciences are located here in NC. Industries invest more than $300 million in Research & Development at the region’s universities each year – double the average R&D investment for innovation clusters elsewhere in the nation. Because of these centers, NC is a leader in biotechnology advances in agriculture, energy and medicine. Our state is home to some of the leading physicians, research scientists, biotechnologists, and agricultural scientists in the US. Some of the key factors that make North Carolina attractive for the biotechnology industry include:the presence of the pioneering North Carolina Biotechnology Center and Research Triangle Park have lead to financial incentives the state government has provided to companies such as Merck and Quintiles; and the educational programs developed at both the community college and university level to help firms fill openings with qualified local employees with knowledge and training in biotechnology.Tax revenues increase because of the large number of developing careers in the field of biotechnology in North Carolina.Biotechnology affects us in every area of our lives, our food, water, medicine and shelter, improving quality of life. When it comes to Biotechnology, nothing could be finer than to live in North Carolina!

The boxer crab, Lybia tesselata, carries a small pair of anemones in its claws. When approached by a predator, it waves the anemones around, presenting the stinging tentacles and chasing away the predator. The anemones benefit by eating food particles from prey that the crab catches. What type of relationship is this?

Answers

This is a symbiotic relationship between the Boxer crab and sea anemone.

Explanation:

The symbiosis is a type of relationship between two species which has benifit for both the participating organisms.

Here in case of boxer crab, the crab gets the help from the sea anemone in the form of protection. The sea anemone chases the predators and thereby saves the organism from being hunted.

On the other hand, the sea anemone gets food from the crab's prey which he hunts.

So there's a benifit for both.

Logistic growth curves are density-dependent. True/False

Answers

The given statement-Logistic growth curves are density-dependent is True.

What are logistic growth curves?

Logistic growth curves describe population growth that takes into account density-dependent factors, such as competition for resources and predation.

The logistic growth model assumes that as a population grows, it will eventually reach a point where resources become limited, and the growth rate slows down.

This is known as the carrying capacity of the environment, which is the maximum population size that can be supported by the available resources. Thus, the growth rate of the population becomes dependent on the population size or density. Hence, the statement is True.

#SPJ2

The correct answer is true.

The density dependent factors are those factors, which is affect the size of the population.

The logistic growth curve shows a a lag phase, a log phase and a stationary phase. In the lag phase, the growth of the organism is minimal, here it prepare for the growth, in log phase, the population growth is exponential. As the resources in a particular area is limited and carrying capacity is also limited, after a certain population density, the growth become stationary, which means mortality becomes equal to the birth rate. As the logistic curve is affected by the density of the population, it would be density dependent.

P.S.- if the resources are not limited, the population continuous to grow exponentially, and would represent exponential growth curve.

The cell membrane of a red blood cell will allow water, oxygen, carbon dioxide, and glucose to pass through. Since other substances are blocked from coming in, this membrane is called A. perforated. B. semi-permeable. C. non-conductive. D. permeable.

Answers

Answer:

The correct answer would be B. semi-permeable.

Plasma membrane of any cell including red blood cell is semi-permeable in nature as it is made up of lipid bilayer.

It permits the passage of certain substances across the membrane while it blocks other substances.

Gases, small uncharged or non-polar substances such as oxygen, carbon dioxide, et cetera can easily pass through the cell membrane of a cell.

Large or charged molecules such as proteins, sodium ions, potassium ions et cetera can not pass through the cell membrane. They require carrier proteins to pass through the membrane.

Because only certain things are allowed to pass through, this would be considered semi-permeable. B.
