track team ran various numbers of miles last week. To determine the number of miles Manuel ran, multiply the number of miles Ewan ran by 3 subtract 15, multiply the difference by 2, and divide this quantity by 5. To determine the number of miles Violet ran, subtract 14 from the number of miles Ewan ran, and then multiply the difference by 3. To determine the number of miles Ling ran, add 30 to the number of miles Ewan ran, and then divide the sum by 5. How many miles did each team member run last week if the total number of miles ran by Ewan and Manuel is equal to the total number of miles ran by Violet and Ling?

Answers

So you need to set up 4 equations. Ewan= x. Manuel= ((2(3x-15)))/(5) . Violet= 3(x-14).. And Ling= (x+30)/(5). Then you set Ewan + Manuel = Violet +Ling and solve for x. Ewan ran 30 miles. Violet ran 48. Manuel ran 30 miles. And Ling ran 12.

You score an 86 on the first of two exams. Write and solve an equation to find the score x that you need on the second exam to have a mean score of 90.

Answers

The score in the second exam is 94.

What is a Mean?

  • Mean is the average value of all the numbers in the given set.
  • Mean is calculated to get the average outcome.

Given:

Score in the first exam = 86

Mean score of two exams = 90

We have to find the score of second exam.

Let the score of second exam be x.

We know, mean is given by:

⇒ Mean = (Total score in all the exams) / (Total number of exams)

Here,

Total score in all the exams = 86 + x

Total number of exams = 2

Mean = 90             (given)

⇒ 90 = (86 + x)/2

⇒ 90 × 2 = 86 + x

⇒ 180 = 86 + x

⇒ x = 180 - 86

x = 94

Therefore, the score in the second exam is 94.

I haven't touched on mean, mode, medium, and range in a little while so I could be wrong, but if (mean) means average, i think average is adding 2 grades together then dividing the number of exams, so the average needs to be 90, so what I did was i found the difference between the original grade on the first exam, so 90-86=4, so i guessed at 94 being the next grade needed. (86+94)/2=90. 86+94=180 then divide 180 by 2 and it equals 90. so yeah your answer is 94.

The regular price of a shirt is $24. The sale price is $18. The sale price is what percent of the regular price?

Answers

18=24x

(18)/(24)=(24x)/(24)

0.75=x

The discount price is 75% of the original price :)

Final answer:

The sale price is 75% of the regular price.

Explanation:

  • To find the sale price as a percentage of the regular price, we need to determine the ratio of the sale price to the regular price and multiply by 100.
  • The ratio of the sale price to the regular price is $18/$24 = 0.75.

Therefore, the sale price is 0.75 * 100 = 75% of the regular price.
