A student has earned scores of 87, 81, and 88 on the first 3 of 4 tests. If the student wants an average (arithmetic mean) of exactly 87, what score must she earn on the fourth test?

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: to find an average you take the numbers to be averaged and add them together then You take the number and divide it by the number of numbers, in this case 4, and that gives you the average.
on this problem you want to do the opposite. you know the average she wants, an 87, so you multiply it by 4. 87*4=348. then you add the three numbers you have (88,81 and 87) and you get 256.
then you subtract 256 from 348 and you get 92. 92 is your answer to check just add 87+81+88+92=348
348/4=87
87 was the average she wanted.
Hope this helped! good luck :)

Answers

It is the first one, (x,y) to (-x,y) because it is going across the y axis from the positive side, so y stays the same but x becomes negative
It is a just make x negative

A football stadium holds 52,000 fans. A college student is doing research and determines that on any given game day, the home team has five times as many fans as the visiting team. In order to help the student in his research, he represents the number of home team tickets as H and the visiting team’s tickets as V.

Answers

This problem is asking us to make an algebraic equation or representation of the situation. First we have to assign the variables which is already given in the problem. H is the number of the home team and V is the visiting team. Since the problem states there are the home team has five times as manyfans as the visiting team, then it can be represented as:

H = 5V
Also, H + V = 52,000. H and V can then be solves by solving the 2 equations simultaneously. The results are 43,333 and 8,667.

Which of these conditions might be true if polygons ABCD and KLMN are similar? A. The measures of corresponding angles of ABCD and KLMN are equal, but the lengths of corresponding sides of ABCD are half those of KLMN.B. The measures of corresponding angles of ABCD and KLMN are in the ratio 1 : 2, but the lengths of corresponding sides of ABCD and KLMN are not proportional.
C. The lengths of corresponding sides of ABCD and KLMN are equal, but the measures of corresponding angles of ABCD and KLMN are not equal.
D. The lengths of corresponding sides of ABCD and KLMN are proportional, but the measures of corresponding angles of ABCD and KLMN are not equal.
E.The measures of corresponding angles of ABCD and KLMN are not proportional, but the lengths of corresponding sides of ABCD and KLMN are proportional.

Answers

The correct answer is:

A) The measures of corresponding angles of ABCD and KLMN are equal, but the lengths of corresponding sides of ABCD are half those of KLMN.

Explanation:

The definition of similar polygons is two polygons whose corresponding angles are congruent and whose corresponding sides are proportional.

If the lengths of the corresponding sides of ABCD are half of those of KLMN, this is the proportion 1:2.

Combined with the fact that the measures of the corresponding angles are congruent, this makes ABCD and KLMN similar polygons.

The question ask to choose among the following choices that state the truth about the condition if polygon ABCD and KLMN are similar and the answer would be letter  A. The measures of corresponding angles of ABCD and KLMN are equal, but the lengths of corresponding sides of ABCD are half those of KLMN.
