Generally, you can tell if something is a multiple of 4 if it is a multiple of the last two digits, but that works in larger numbers (for example, 2304, you know is a multiple of 4 because the 04 is.)
OK. Watch carefully, as I guide you through the mysterious and complex methods of solution, taught to me from the ancient sacred scrolls of Tibet. It won't be easy, but I'll go slow so that neither of us gets lost along the path, to the ultimate wisdom. Remember ... the "solution" is the number that 'M' must be, in order to make the equation a true statement. Ready ? Here we go. Fossen your seat belt, it's goin to be eh boompy rade, mon:
The equation. You said that M + 12 = 10
Subtract 12 from each side: M = -2 .
Were you able to follow all of that ?
A vendor sells 60 pieces of fruit that are either apples or oranges. The ratio of apples to oranges is 3: 2. How many apples did the vendor sell? How many oranges did the vendor sell?
Answers
so 60 fruitsthe ratio is apples to oranges=3:2they are simplified so they have 3 apple units to 2 orange unitstherefor60=2+3=5 fruit unitsdividd 60 by 5 to find 1 fruit unit60/5=12apples=3 unitsapples=3 times 12=36oranges=2 unitsoranges=2 times 12=2436 apples and 24 oranges
ok so 3:2 is just the ratio and is a simplified answer and I am going to divide 60÷2 and 60÷3 to get my answer. So 60÷2=30 and 60÷3=20 so another way of saying 3:2 is 20:30 and since it is apples to oranges, there is 20 apples and there is 30 oranges.
