(1) Earths crust is made up of relatively rigid plates that ride atop Earth's hot, semiliquid mantle. (2) The plates are called tectonic because they're in constant motion. (3) They can move because Earth's mantle is a very hot and semiliquid fluid called magma. (4) Volcanoes are a result of magma rising or erupting through a plate, particularly where plate boundaries are moving against each other. (5) Also, when plates slide against each other, causing friction along adjacent plate boundaries, earthquakes frequently occur. (6) Therefore, we often find volcanoes and earthquakes along plate boundaries. (7) Plates may also collide. (8) When that happens, mountain ranges are formed. Choose the correct vocabulary word for the blank in the following sentence. 4. When someone hurts you, the desire for _____ is strong. A: immolation B: retribution C: gesticulation D:connotation

Answers

Answer:

retribution

Explanation:

When we are hurt by someone, we instinctively have a sense of retribution, that is, do the same for that person. However, this is not a noble feeling, this is sustained by the emotion of the moment.

The best way to resolve a grievance is to dialogue with the person. You can question the attitude of those people and explain how it hurt you. Maybe that person can apologize and change his attitude. If she or he persists hurting you, you must walk away because that person is not worth it.

When someone hurts you, the desire for retribution is strong.

Retribution means punishment or revenge.

I NEED HELP PLEASE! ); In 1800, Napoleon led his reserve army across the Alps into Italy to fight Austrian forces that had laid siege to Genoa. Although Genoa had fallen by the time Napoleon had reached it, the crossing led to a series of important military victories for Napoleon. Review the two paintings of Napoleon. The Delaroche painting has been called the more realistic portrayal of the event. Which details make the Delaroche painting realistic as opposed to David's painting? Be sure to use details from the paintings to support your answer.

Answers

Well, despite his high achievements, Napoleon was quite a miserable person (according to his appearance and complexes). Looking on the David's painting, we can see the brave man filled with courage, who points up his finger towards the sky, showing he's ready to reach the victory whereas in the Delaroche's picture Bonaparte is portrayed like exhausted man with desperate and sleazy look. The main point is that he's not a superman, he's just a MAN, so Delaroche's painting is more realistic because he treats emperor as a normal human with its lacks.

There are several things that make Delaroche's painting more realistic. In the first painting, it seems as if he is riding toward battle in the Alps, when in fact he was not, as the description stated, Austrian forces had already been defeated, so there was no reason for him to look like that. In Delaroche's painting, he seems more accurately depicted, cold, tired, and with others (most likely servants) who are forced to walk while Napoleon rides on his horse.
