Answer:

Surface tension - My definition -

It's exactly what it says - The tension of a surface with a liquid (such as water), caused by the attraction of the surfaces layer ---- I hope this helps ---- I actually did research it and got some of this from a dictionary, but I changed some of it, too.... Sorry if this doesn't help :)

1. You are driving south on the 405. You are in traffic so your speed is 35 miles per hour,(35 mi/hr). Calculate your speed in m/sec. Assume that there 1.609 meters in every mile.

2. The Moon takes 27.25 days to make one revolution around the Earth. Calculate how
many seconds it takes for the Moon to make one revolution around the Earth.

Answers

Answer:

1. 15.64 m/s

2. 2,354,400 seconds

Explanation:

1. 1mile is equivalent to 1609metres and 1hour is equivalent to 3600sec.

35mph = (35×1609)/3600

= 56315/3600

= 15.64 m/s

2. Note that 1 day ===> 24hrs

60min ==> 1hr

60sec ===> 1min

Thus 27.25 days = 27.25×24×60×60

= 2,354,400 seconds

why is the chemical energy of a battery potential energy and not kinetic energy?

Answers

The energy is 'stored' in the battery. The energy in the battery is able to start a motion and by doing so transfering to kinetic energy, nut the chemical energy in the battery isn't 'stored' in movement.

Kinetic energy is simply the energy of something in motion,
and the battery is just sitting there, even if it's fully charged.

A fully charged battery has the potential to cause heating,
light, an electric current, or the motion of something like
a motor or the clapper of a bell.  What kind of energy it
produces depends on how you use it.  You might use it
to produce kinetic energy, and you might not.  Until you
connect it to something, its energy stays inside, in the
form of chemical energy, and nothing is moving yet.

2. Oceanic crust and continental crust

3. Silicate rock

5. The outermost part of Earth's structure is known as the lithosphere is mostly composed of liquid iron and nickel

1. is the full moon a spring tide or neap tide2. Neap Tides have higher high tides and lower low tides than normal TRUE OR FALSE

3. is the new moon a spring tide or neap tide

PLEASE HELP   FOR 50 POINTS!!!!!!!!!

Answers

The greatest tidal extremes occur when the Sun, Moon, and Earth
are all lined up along the same straight line.  Those occasions are
at the time of the Full Moon ... when the Earth is the middle one ...
and the time of the New Moon ... when the Moon is the middle one.
Those are the occasions of the highest high tides and the lowest
low tides, known collectively as "Spring tides".

The smallest tidal extremes occur when the Sun, Moon, and Earth
form a right angle, with the Earth at the vertex.  Those occasions are
at the time of the First Quarter and Third Quarter Moon.  Those are
the occasions of the highest low tides and the lowest high tides,
known collectively as "Neap tides".

#1 & #3:  Spring tides
#2:  False
Question 1: the full moon is a spring tide

Question 2 is true. Neap Tides do have higher and lower tides than normal.

Question 3: (the same as Question 1)-- The new moon is a spring tide

Suppose you increase your walking speed from 6 m/s to 11 m/s in a period of 2 s. What is your acceleration?

acceleration   a  =   Δv/ Δt

                         a = (v₂-v₁) / Δt

                         a  =  (11m/s -6m/s ) / 2s

                          a =   (5m/s)  /  2s
