Who were the 5 hunters in most dangerous game?

The game starts, and Dodge eventually encounters and avoids the five hunters: Nixon, a gentlemanly British man who strictly adheres to the rules of the hunt; Reagan, a cowboy from the South; Carter, a psychologist who uses Dodge's profile to predict his next move; Kennedy, a martial arts expert; and LBJ, an older man Dodge saw.

A guy in financial need who has an incurable brain tumor agrees to play a game in which he will be pursued by strangers who want to kill him, but if he survives to the end of the game, he will receive a reward.

Thus, readers wonder what the papers signify does the fact that names are called and people select their piece of paper work to create suspense.

I think all are right- except number 3. In the story "The Most Dangerous Game", (which is based off a true story, actually) the beginning does go over Whitney and rainsford's plans to go hunting, however the question asks for what created Suspense, and I shivered when they began talking about cannibals and such. I believe the answer to that would be c, since suspense and mystery (the word was in the answer c) are closely related.

1. The pitcher, cradling the baseball in his mitt, sized up the young batter at the plate. Which of the following statements about the sentence is true? a. The sentence needs commas because the participial phrase is essential. b, The sentence needs commas because the participial phrase is nonessential. c. The commas should be removed because the participial phrase is essential. d. The commas should be removed because the participial phrase is nonessential

Answers

The statement about the sentence that is true is B. the sentence needs commas because the participial phrase is nonsessential. Nonessential phrases, unlike essential ones, are not that important in a sentence, and can thus be easily removed without changing the meaning of the sentence drastically. They are always set off from the rest of the sentence by commas, whereas essential phrases don't have commas around them. Here, the nonessential phrase is cradling the baseball in his mitt.

The answer to your question would be that the statement about the sentence that is true is the following one: The sentence needs commas because the partipial phrase is nonessential. That is, the correct option would be B.

Participial phrases can either be essential or nonessential depending on the type of information they add to the sentence. A participial phrase is essential when the information it provides is essential to the meaning of the sentence and therefore no commas are used. If the essential participial phrase was removed, the meaning of the sentence would be altered. On the other hand, participial phrases are nonessential when they provide nonessential information to the sentence. They are set off with commas and can be removed from the sentence without altering its meaning.

how does each poets use of figurative language contribute to the overall meaning of "to my dear loving husband" and "to the kings most excellent majesty"

Answers

Each poet's use of figurative speech contributes to the overall meaning of the two poems "To my Dear Loving Husband" by Bradstreet, and "To the King's Most Excellent Majesty" by Wheatley. In the poem "To the King's Most Excellent Majesty", Wheatley uses hyperbole to emphasize her respect for the king. He also uses metaphors to contrast the king's attitude with that of his subjects. Bradstreet also uses hyperbole to show how much the speaker values her husband's love. Bradstreet uses metaphors to show the differences between the wife's strengths and the husband's strengths.

Answer:

A. Wheatley's use of hyperbole accentuates her respect for the king; Bradstreet use of hyperbole shows how greatly the speaker values her husband's love
