Explain how Johnny's letter helps ponyboy see the gang situation more clearly in the novel outsiders

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: Basically, because Johnny (Sorry if there is a spoiler) had so many good morals to live by, and the fact that he barely had what someone would call parents, he learnt lots living with the Greasers. He learnt that people are just people and that wealth is the only thing that separates us. This helped Ponyboy to see the gang situation more clearly because what made up the SOCS was money. What made up the Greasers was a lack of money. And because Johnny was such a good friend and almost motherly figure to Ponyboy, he uncovered heaps of meaning behind his words when he said what he did in the letter.

What is a spring? A spring is a water resource formed when the side of a hill, a valley bottom or other excavation intersects a flowing body of groundwater at or below the local water table, below which the subsurface material is saturated with water. A spring is the result of an aquifer being filled to the point that the water overflows onto the land surface. They range in size from intermittent seeps, which flow only after much rain, to huge pools flowing hundreds of millions of gallons daily. Springs are not limited to the Earth's surface, though. Recently, scientists have discovered hot springs at depths of up to 2.5 kilometers in the oceans, generally along mid - ocean rifts ( spreading ridges) . The hot water ( over 300 degrees Celsius) coming from these springs is also rich in minerals and sulfur, which results in a unique ecosystem where unusual and exotic sea life seems to thrive. Water flow from springs. The amount of water that flows from springs depends on many factors, including the size of the caverns within the rocks, the water pressure in the aquifer, the size of the spring basin, and the amount of rainfall. Human activities also can influence the volume of water that discharges from a spring-ground-water withdrawals in an area can reduce the pressure in an aquifer, causing water levels in the aquifer system to drop and ultimately decreasing the flow from the spring. Most people probably think of a spring as being like a pool of water - and normally that is the case. But springs can occur when geologic, hydrologic, or human forces cut into the underground layers of soil and rock where water is in movement. Courtesy of the U.S Geological Survey. Read the following excerpt from the speech "Cotton Is King" by James Henry Hammond. Which type of evidence does Hammond present to support his claim that "cotton is king"?

Cotton is king . . . Who can doubt, that has looked at recent events, that cotton is supreme? When the abuse of credit had destroyed credit and annihilated confidence; when thousands of the strongest commercial houses in the world were coming down, and hundreds of millions of dollars of supposed property evaporating in thin air; when you came to a dead lock, and revolutions were threatened, what brought you up? Fortunately for you it was the commencement of the cotton season, and we have poured in upon you one million six hundred thousand bales of cotton just at the crisis to save you from destruction. That cotton, but for the bursting of your speculative bubbles in the North, which produced the whole of this convulsion, would have brought us $100,000,000. We have sold it for $65,000,000 and saved you. Thirty-five million dollars we, the slaveholders of the South, have put into the charity box for your magnificent financiers, your "cotton lords," your "merchant princes."

Hammond presents facts to support his claim that "cotton is king."

Explanation:
