Consider the work of Thomson, Rutherford, and Bohr. In your opinion, which was the most important and why? Be sure to state what your selected person discovered and how it contributed to the model of the atom. (IK THIS ISNT CHEM but theres no comprehensive science)

I personally think Thompson was most important. He discovered the electron and improved hugely on the atomic model with a positively charged sphere with negative electrons dispersed throughout, and the atom with a neutral charge.

I think that without him, Rutherford wouldn't have done his gold foil experiment. Since Rutherford discovered the nucleus is positive, Bhor was able to find electrons have energy levels and that wouldn't have happened without Rutherford, who happened because of Thompson.

Describe three similarities and one difference in the reactions of lithium and potassium with water.

Answers

The three similarities are hydrogen is produces, metal floats and move around the water, and metal disappeared. The difference is potassium is more reactive than lithium.

What is the reaction of metal with water?

When metal reacts with water, hydrogen and metal hydroxide is produced.

Potassium is more reactive than lithium.

Alkali metals are also reactive with water.

The metal self ignites.

Thus, the three similarities are hydrogen is produces, metal floats and move around the water, and metal disappeared. The difference is potassium is more reactive than lithium.

THEY BOTH  React violently with water
THEY Both: Give off heat
THEY Both: Give off light

Lithium will float on the water and become engulfed in flame and then die off, and Potassium will become engulfed in flames and then explode.

Name and Title:Include your name, instructor's name, date, and name of lab.

Objectives(s):

In your own words, what is the purpose of this lab?

Hypothesis:

In this section, please include the predictions you developed during your lab activity. These statements reflect your predicted outcomes for the experiment.

Procedure:

The materials and procedures are listed in your virtual lab. You do not need to repeat them here. However, you should note if you experienced any errors or other factors that might affect your outcome. Using your summary questions at the end of your virtual lab activity, please clearly define the dependent and independent variables of the experiment.

Data:

Record the elements present in each unknown astronomical object. Be sure to indicate “yes” or “no” for each element.

Hydrogen Helium Lithium Sodium Carbon Nitrogen
Moon One

Moon Two

Planet One

Planet Two

Conclusion:

Your conclusion will include a summary of the lab results and an interpretation of the results. Please answer all questions in complete sentences using your own words.

Using two to three sentences, summarize what you investigated and observed in this lab.
Astronomers use a wide variety of technology to explore space and the electromagnetic spectrum; why do you believe it is essential to use many types of equipment when studying space?
If carbon was the most common element found in the moons and planets, what element is missing that would make them similar to Earth? Explain why. (Hint: Think about the carbon cycle.)
We know that the electromagnetic spectrum uses wavelengths and frequencies to determine a lot about outer space. How does it help us find out the make-up of stars?
Why might it be useful to determine the elements that a planet or moon is made up of?

Scientists classify rocks into three different types. What is the main basis for the classification system they chose?

Answers

Answer:

The main basis for the classification system is the way rocks were formed. With these criteria there are three different types of rocks:

  • Igneous rocks :  formed through the cooling and solidification of magma or lava
  • Sedimentary rocks : formed by the accumulation or deposition of small particles
  • Metamorphic rocks: formed by the transformation of existing rock types by heating and pressure

Law of action-reaction

Answers

Answer:

Formally stated, Newton's third law is: For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. The statement means that in every interaction, there is a pair of forces acting on the two interacting objects. The size of the forces on the first object equals the size of the force on the second object.
