Answers

The evidence BEST explains HOW cotton and tobacco led to the expansion of slavery in the South is The South's focus on growing cash crops led to the development of a slave labor force that was largely unknown north of Maryland. Thus the correct option is C.

What is Evidence?

Evidence is referred to as proof based on factual information which helps to validate the occurrence of the event. It helps to determine whether the action took place or not by providing credentials.

Cotton and tobacco are highly grown crops in the south and require a large number of workers in farms as the process requires hard work and physical strength to produce the crops.

To fulfill the requirements of working laborers more slaves are demanded as these slaves worked in the field without having wages just fulfilling the basic amenities like food, shelter, and cloth.

In this way, slave forces demanded growing cash crops in the north of Maryland, and expansion of slavery took place because of cotton and tobacco.

Therefore, option C is appropriate.
