If Mary read 2/5 of a page every minute, how long would she take to read 240 pages

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: First convert 2/5 into a decimal. So divide the numerator by denominator. So 2÷5= 0.4 or 0.40 (both are same). So now divide:
240
÷0.40
--------
600

So, 600 is the answer.
Answer 2
Answer: so 2/5 is to 1 minute (that means 2/5:1 not 2/5=1)
240 is to x minute
convert to fraction
(2/5)/1=240/x
multiply both sides by x
(2/5x)/1=240
2x/5=240
multipy both sides by 5 to get rid of fraction
2x=1200
divide by 2
x=600
600 minutes or 10 hours

How do u add 10 to 2 digits numbers

Answers

It depends. Multiples of 10 are:
10, 20, 30, 40, 50...........
And a 2 digit number can be anything between 10 and 99.

To comment: Rodney would have 39 pieces of fruit.

When adding 10 to any two digit number, increase the left digit by 1. For example 20+10= 30. 55+10=65. If a problem says 10+ (a number), you can reverse the order the numbers are in because of the commutative property of addition. Example: 10+50 eqauls 50+10. Both equations equal 60. Also, Rodney would have 39 pieces of fruit since 20+19 is 39.

A ________ is a whole number that divides another whole number with a remainder of 0

Answers

It's a factor. This concept is widely used throughout algebra, and you'll probably bump into it through the end of high school and beyond.

A common use is expressing a term in prime factorization, or reducing a number to its most base parts- primes. For example:

20 = 4 * 5 = 2 * 2 * 5

Of course, a number like 13 which is already prime is made up of itself and 1. Factors do not have to be primes. 20 is also reducible through combinations of 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, and 20. Prime factorization is just a handy example.

Basically, factors multiply with each other to create other numbers, and numbers can be reduced down to their factors.

My math teacher is giving me a question about the mean absolute deviation. I don't really get it. Some help please.

Answers

well, you didn't show the question but i can tell you this: first find the mean of the data set.
1) 1+2+3+4=10    10/4(amount of #)=2.5
then, subtract the mean from each number in the data set.
2) 1-2.5= -1.5; 2-2.5= -0.5; 3-2.5= 0.5; 4-2.5= 1.5
convert all these numbers to positive, then add them together.
3)1.5 + 0.5 + 0.5 +1.5 = 4
divide the total by the amount of # in the data set
4/4=1
the MAD in this case is 1.

Hope i helped!! :)

You roll a standard number die. What is the probability of rolling a number less than 5?

Answers

probablity is (desired outcomes)/(total possible outcomes)

less than 5
therea er 1,2,3,4
4 number

total possible is 6 since 6 faces
probablity is 4/6=2/3
look at it this way. it is originally 6. you take away 2 (cause you can only roll 1 through 4,) then you have 4/6, which simplifies to 2/3.
