Andre has 4 times as many model cars as Peter, and Peter has one-third as many model cars as Jade. Andre has 36 model cars. Write and solve an equation to find how many model cars Peter has. Using your answer from part a, write and solve an equation to find how many model car Jade has.

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: First solve what is probably 'part A.'
Peter has 36 ÷ 4; Peter has 9 model cars. Jade has 3 times as many as Peter; Peter has 1/3 as many as Jade, so 9 x 3 = 27, so Jade has 27 cars.

1st equation: 36 ÷ 4 = 9 -OR- 36 x 1/4 = 9
2nd equation: 9 x 3 = 27 -OR- (36 x 1/4) x 3 = 9
(36/4)3 = 9 would also work. I think the 1st equations would be best... just giving some choices...

Write an equation or inequality to represent "five times the difference of a number n and forty two is ten more than twice the product of a number x and number y."

Answers

Five times the difference of a number n and forty two is ten more than twice the product of a number x and number y

  • Five times: 5 ×
  • difference of a number n and forty two: (n - 42)
  • is: =
  • twice the product of a number x and a number y: 2(xy)
  • ten more than: + 10

Rewrite the expression into an equation.

5(n - 42) = 2(xy) + 10

5(n-42)=10+2(xy)

How many unique triangles can be made where one angle 60° and another angle is an obtuse angle?

Answers

That set of requirements narrows it down to only
an infinite number of possible unique triangles.

-- One angle is 60°.  That leaves 120° for the sum of the other two.

-- One angle is obtuse.  It can be anything more than 90°
and less than 120°.

-- And the third angle gets whatever is left.

-- If you don't mind fractional or decimal parts of degrees, then we
already have an infinite number of possible combinations of angles.
_____________________________________

Every possible combination of angles defines a unique set of
RATIOs among the sides.

But for EVERY unique set of RATIOs, there are an infinite number of possible unique triangles that are SIMILAR to each other.

Example:

If the angles determine that the sides must be in the ratio of 1:2:3,
then the triangle can have sides of

1, 2, and 3
2, 4, and 6
3, 6, and 9
4, 8, and 12
5, 10, and 15
6, 12, and 18
7, 14, and 21
8, 16, and 24
9, 18, and 27
10, 20, and 30
.
.
etc.

These all have the SAME set of ANGLES, and the same RATIO
among the sides, but they're all different unique triangles.

I'm pretty sure it's below sea level because the trench is much farther down than the height of the mountain so if you were to find the middle it would have to be below sea level... I hope this helped :0
