Hi right now im doing homework about common denominators and for some reason I cant understand how to do it

Answers

It would be great if you added some more details, but for common denominators you try to find the least common number that the 2 or more of the numbers you got have!
For example:
1/2 and 2/3 if you multiply 2 by 3 and 3 by 2, they both are 6, so you would multiply 1/2 both by 3 to make it into 3/6 and 2/3 by 2 to make it into 4/6!
basically you have to find the lcm for the common denominator so that you can add/subtract them

List the partial products of 42 x 28

Answers

Solution: The partial products of 42*28 are 800, 320, 40, 16 and the value of 42*28 is 1176.

Explanation:

To find the partial product of two numbers, first we write the both numbers as the sum of place values of the digits. Multiply each the place value of first number with the place value of second number.

42*28

(40+2)*(20+8)

40* 20+40* 8+2* 20+2* 8

Multiply each pair individually.

40* 20=800

40* 8=320

2* 20=40

2* 8=16

The above values are partial product.

800+320+40+16=1176

Therefore, the partial products of 42*28 are 800, 320, 40, 16 and the value of 42*28 is 1176.

42 × 48

(40 + 2) × (40 + 8)

40 × (40 + 2) = (40 × 40) + (40 × 2) = 1600 + 80 = 1680
8 × (40 + 2) = (40 × 8) + (2 × 8) = 320 + 16 = 336

Then 1680 + 336 = 2016
