How can you decrease the momentum of an object?

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: You will have to "put force against the object to slow it down." Momentum is the force that is keeping a object moving in a certain direction so if you would want to slow down the object you will have to put another force against the object to slow it down or stop it. For example: a person kicks a ball, the ball moving is the momentum. So, if you would want to stop the ball you would have t put something in its path to slow it down which is the decreasing of it's momentum. Therefore you would put a bump in the wall and when the ball hits the bump it slows down.

Hope this helps!
Answer 2
Answer: The momentum of an object is the product of (its mass)
and (its velocity).  So, if you want to decrease the object's
momentum, then you're going to have to decrease one of
those quantities.

You have exactly two choices:

1). Reduce its mass. (Put the object on a diet, or cut a piece off.)
or
2). Reduce its speed.

The molecules of a substance are moving rapidly in a container. The molecules do not interact with each other. If the container is opened, the molecules will escape from the container. In what phase of matter are the molecules in the container?

Answers

Answer:

The phase of the molecule is gas.

Explanation:

Gas is one of the basic state of matter. The other fundamental states are solid and liquid. Gas have no definite shape nor size. Gases will occupy the whole space of a closed container. The properties of a gas is dependent on the volume of the container. Gases in a closed container tends to move rapidly .They move chaotically and randomly hitting the wall of the container. Gas have low density and are highly compressible. Gas moves rapidly due to the inter-molecular forces holding them is weak.

The forces holding them are weak and the molecules rarely interact they collide with each other constantly in a closed system. The molecules will escape immediately if the closed system is open because of the rapid nature of the molecules.

A car goes 152 miles in 2 hours and 5 minutes. Calculate the car’s speed in units of m/s. 1 mi = 1600 m.

Answers

Answer:

The speed of the car is 32.4m/s

Explanation:

1mi = 1600m

152mi = 243 200m

2hr 5min = 7200s + 300s

= 7500s

speed = distance/time

= 243200/7500

= 32.4m/s (3s.f)
