Potassium has an atomic number of 19.Which of a potassium atom's electrons are its valence electrons?
Select one:
a. Those in the third shell from the nucleus.
b. Those in the second shell from the nucleus.
c. Those in the outermost shell.
d. Those in the innermost shell.

Answers

The correct response would be C. Those in the outermost shell, and of highest electron energy are the valence electrons for potassium.

According to scientific evidence, earth’s earliest atmosphere lacked oxygen. Over time, oxygen was added to the atmosphere.Which statements explain how this change occurred and how it affected life on earth?

Choose all answers that are correct.

A.
The addition of oxygen to the earth's atmosphere helped make possible the development of eukaryotic organisms, which need oxygen to carry out many of their life processes.

B.
When cyanobacteria evolved, they carried out photosynthesis. Oxygen is a product of photosynthesis. The addition of oxygen to earth’s atmosphere helped make possible the development of eukaryotic organisms, which need oxygen to carry out many of their life processes.

C.
The addition of oxygen to the earth's atmosphere helped make possible the development of prokaryotic organisms, which need oxygen to carry out many of their life processes.

D.
When cyanobacteria evolved, they carried out photosynthesis. Oxygen is needed to carry out photosynthesis.

Answers

B.
The cynobacteria were already there without the oxygen, so that rules out A, and a lot of prokaryotes were anaerobic, so that rules out C. Finally, Photosynthesis does not require oxygen. Instead, Oxygen is a waste product of it. Therefore, it cannot be D. So, we are only left with B

Explain the relationship between societyand the technologies of using Earth's
resources.

Answers

Technology is built to give means, tools, and machinery for the preservation of the environment's resources from the damaging effects of climate change and global warming, and the environment in turn provides the materials, which is how technology and the environment are interdependent.

What is global warming ?

The gradual increase in the planet's surface temperature is known as global warming. Although this warming trend has been around for a while, the burning of fossil fuels has greatly accelerated its pace over the past century. The amount of fossil fuels burned has increased along with the size of the human population.

The two main ways that these technologies have harmed our planet are through pollution and the depletion of natural resources. When dangerous or excessive levels of gases like carbon dioxide, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitric oxide, and methane are released into the earth's atmosphere, air pollution results.

Technology and society have a reciprocal interaction. Technological advancement shapes society, while technological advancement drives it.

Thus, the environment's resources from the damaging effects of climate change and global warming, and the environment in turn provides the materials.
