How to name alkane using iupac system

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: Naming an alkane through the IUPAC system is pretty simple
so all it is is (prefix for number of carbon) + ane
For the first four in this homologous series you have
 Meth- 1 carbon
 Eth- 2 carbons
 Pro- 3 carbons
 But- 4 Carbons
Onward you use the prefixes you know such as Pent, Hex, Hept, Oct, Non, Dec

So for an alkane with 3 Carbons it would be Propane, with 4 - Butane with 8- Octane etc.

A solution that is a 4 on pH scale is a

Answers

a pH scale runs from 1 to 14 with 7 being neutral.

1-6 has base like properties
8-14 has avid line properties

since this solution has a pH scale of 4.... the solution is basic
A solution that is 4 on pH scale is an acid. A pH scale is used to measure whether a solution is an acid or a base. the pH scale is numbered between 0 to 14. 7 is the neutral point of this scale. Any solution having a pH of 7 is a neutral solution. Acidity of a solution increases as the reading in the scale decreases from seven towards zero. The basic nature of the solution increases as the pH level of the solution increases from 7 towards 14. The acidic nature of a solution having pH value of 3 is ten times more acidic than a solution having pH value of 4. The same thing is same while comparing basic solutions as well.

Is CI3 a compound or an element

Answers

Cl₃ is formed by thecombination of 3 chlorine atoms. Hence, not a single element and not a compound. Instead Cl₃ is a molecule of chlorine.

What are molecules ?

Molecules are the combination of atoms of same element or are the basic units of a compound. A compound is formed by the combination of two or more atoms of different elements.

The combination of atoms can be different bond types, such as ionic bond, covalent bond, hydrogen bonding etc. The type of bond is dependent on the nature of atoms.

Combination of same atoms in any number are forming the molecules of that element and not a compound. Hence, Cl₃ is a molecules and not element or compound.

You dissolve 0.74 g of potassium chloride (KCl) in 500 mL of water. What is the molarity of the solution?

Answers

There are a number of ways to express concentration of a solution. This includes molarity. Molarity is expressed as the number of moles of solute per volume of the solution. The concentration of the solution is calculated as follows:

Molarity = 0.74 g (1 mol / 74. 55 g) / 500mL (1 L / 1000 mL)

Molarity = 0.02 M

Answer:

0.02 M is the answer

Explanation:

What is the concentration of a solution that has a volume of 2.5L and contains exactly 2.125 moles of calcium phosphate

Answers

Answer:

0.85 mol/L.

Explanation:

  • Molarity is defined as the no. of moles of solute dissolved in a liter of the solution.

M = (no. of moles of solute)/(Volume of the solution (L))

no. of moles of calcium phosphate = 2.125 mol.

Volume of the solution = 2.5 L.

∴ M of calcium phosphate = (2.125 mol)/(2.5 L) = 0.85 mol/L.

Solutions are a mixture of 2 or more compounds
