Read the excerpts from "Take the Tortillas Out of Your Poetry" and "Speaking Arabic."My friend had concluded that if he took his language and culture out of his poetry, he stood a better chance of receiving a fellowship. He took out his native language, the poetic patois of our reality, the rich mixture of Spanish, English, pachuco and street talk which we know so well. In other words, he took the tortillas out of his poetry, which is to say he took the soul out of his poetry.

At a neighborhood fair in Texas, somewhere between the German Oom-pah Sausage Stand and the Mexican Gorditas booth, I overheard a young man say to his friend, "I wish I had a heritage. Sometimes I feel—so lonely for one." And the tall American trees were dangling their thick branches right down over his head.

Answers

Learn from yesterday --> whatever mistakes you made, don't repeat. learn from your experiences and apply it to your life today.

Live for today --> live in the present and don't always focus on things that could happen in the future. make sure to do what you want to do TODAY rather than putting it off.

Hope for tomorrow --> have dreams and don't stop dreaming. believe in yourself. pray and hope that tomorrow will bring even more fun experiences and happiness.

The important thing is not to stop questioning --> never stop wondering about the world. have an open mind and continue to constantly learn new things. make discoveries. be curious.

This quote is often attributed to Albert Einstein and carries a message of continuous learning, living in the present, and maintaining hope for the future while emphasizing the value of curiosity and inquiry.

14. Each of the sentences provided may contain a grammar or usage error. Read each sentence, and then identify the section that contains the error, if there is one, by selecting the appropriate answer choice. If there is no error in the sentence, choose no error. The department heads does not realize that they're part of the problem with the organization of the new physics program.
(Points : 2)
does not realize

they're part

the organization of

physics program

no error

Answers

Answer:

does not realize

Explanation:

The sentence contains a subject-verb agreement mistake. Thus, the plural subject The department heads does not correspond in number with the singular present simple negative verb form does not realize. As a consequence, the revised sentence must contain a plural verb form for its plural subject:

The department heads do not realize that they're part of the problem with the organization of the new physics program.

"Does not realize". It should be "do not realize".

Can someone tell me if i have a good intro paragraph for my research article on the pros/cons of videogames?Forty-two percent of Americans play video games but how much do you really know about them? Many scientists have studied the effects video games have on people. Video games interact with your brain and body like the heroes and villains interact with each other in the games you play. They can harm your mental and physical states, but they can help you, too.

Answers

Hey! sounds like the basis of a good introduction.

I think to begin with you should probably do a general statement which introduces your line of argument, something along the lines of: The rapidly growing percentage of video-game players is becoming an increasing issue throughout the world. Then you could state the statistics and the health implications that they may have.

Wow! Absolutely fantastic! That is a very very good intro!  Keep it up!

I will give you some tips, if you want to persuade the person to agree with you  (because I already has done a similar topic like yours)  or if you just want to show them the advantages and disadvantages of Video games affecting your health. First of all if you want to persuade them, there is a type of writing called Power Writing. Power writing is simple but effective. To use Power Writing, Start with you topic first, then you start giving out reasons and proof. While you are writing the reasons and proof that support your topic, use transitional words like example: To begin with, Furthermore, Another one, Also, and there are also lots of other transitional words you can use. After you believe that you got all the reasons and evidence that support your topic, you can move to the conclusion. The conclusion must be a strong ending, for both persuasive writing and just regular writing like yours. Again Of course use transitional words while adding the ending, use words like example: For these reasons, In conclusion, To sum it all up, To conclude, etc. I suppose you are writing the upsides & the downsides for Video games , so as I said use transitional words while writing. If you are going to write the drawbacks, you can start like this -> "Unfortunately, Video game does have it's drawbacks" . Be as creative and accurate as you can. Good luck!.

Hope this helps! :)

According to the article, what professional choice was Dante faced with when writing the Divine Comedy?A. Whether or not to imitate Chaucer's 10-syllable line
B. Whether or not to write in Italian
C. Whether or not to include the Catholic idea of Purgatory
D. Whether or not to cast himself as the main character

Answers

The correct answer is D. Whether or not to cast himself as the main character.

Not only was this question about him, but about his entire surrounding, as he wanted to speak about everyone from Italy, without it being too obvious. His life and the life of the people he knew is partly in the epic and partly not, as he tried to keep as much of his life out of the epic.
