Consider how life in our own times is similar to and different from the modernist period. Do you think we live in stable or uncertain times? How might the times we live in affect our literature and art?

Answers

Answer 1
Answer: We definitely live in uncertain times, i don't think the world has ever really been "stable". Life itself is completely unpredictable. There are stable days, stable moments but never just a stable time period. There are too many corruptions and disasters in the world to consider any time a "stable time". Until the world has complete and total peace, there will not be any stability. As long as the world has terrorism, unstable economies, war, nothing can be described as stable. The times we live in today, more and more art as well as literature are becoming things done by technology. Its not like the things you see in history with Beethoven, Charles Dickens, and many other great writers. There are just too many new concepts. The same goes for art, paper is starting to become replaced by technology little by little but faster and faster.

Which statement about short story is most true

Answers

The statement which is true about a short story is that it uses narrative techniques (e.g. plot, characters, setting, and conflict). A short story is similar to any other story - the only difference is that it is much shorter in length. It may use logical explanation, or it may not - it really depends on the story. The second option (the one about dramatic elements) refers to plays, not short stories. It doesn't use nonfiction, because short stories are fiction.

Answer:

It uses narrative techniques

Explanation:

what purpose does the setting serveā€”the hills across the valley, the treeless railroad tracks, and station? what is contributed by the precise information about time at the end of the first paragraph?

Answers

Explanation:

The setting in a story serves multiple purposes, including establishing the physical backdrop, creating atmosphere, and adding depth to the narrative. In the specific example you mentioned, the hills across the valley, the treeless railroad tracks, and the station contribute to the overall sense of place and help readers visualize the environment in which the story unfolds. It sets the stage and provides a sense of location.

As for the precise information about time at the end of the first paragraph, it adds another layer of detail and specificity. Knowing the exact time can contribute to building suspense or creating a particular mood. It can also serve as a foreshadowing element or hint at events that may occur later in the story.

Which sentence includes faulty coordination? My dad attended my high school many years ago, but he transferred out his junior year. My school is the oldest in our town, and it is three stories high. The middle school in our neighborhood is old, but it is not nearly as old as my high school. Many parts of the school have been restored, and they look much as they did when the school opened.

Answers

My school is the oldest in our town, and it is three stories high" is the sentence with the faulty coordination. The age of the school has nothing to do with the height of the school.

The sentence that contains a faulty coordination is "My school is the oldest in our town, and it is three stories high." since both ideas that are conected are not related to each other.

Faulty coordiantion occurs when joining two sentences in a way that make their meaning illogical.

In this case, the coordinating conjunction "and" is linking two sentences that do not follow a logical sence since the first sentence is talking about school age and the second one about its hight.
