Answers

I wish I could see your answer in the picture.  Then we could put it into the original equation and see if it checks.

It won't, because you made a slight mistake in your first line, where you were
eliminating the parentheses on the right side:

         -4(x- 3) = -4x +12 . . . . .  not -4x -12 .

That should get you all fixed up.

When you combine like terms from your first line,
your second line will be
                                         4x + 6 = 30 - 4x

and it's all smooth sailing from there.

The product of blank and four is equal to the product of eight & twelve

Answers

Let us say that this blank is x

So:

\sf{x *4=8* 12}

Simplyfying that:

\sf{4x=96}

Dividing 4 on both sides:

\sf{x=24}

So this blank would be \boxed{\sf{24}}
So,

We can write this as an equation.

x * 4 = 8 * 12
4x = 8(12)

Distribute.
4x = 96

Divide both sides by 4.
x = 24

Check.
24 * 4 = 8 * 12
96 = 96 This checks.

Mo-Qui has studied Spanish for half an hour longer than he studied History.If He spent 2 hours and 15 min studying for Spanish, but isn't finished yet, write an inequality to show how the amounts of time studying each subject are related.

Answers

So,

Let s represent the time Mo-Qui spent studying Spanish and h represent the time Mo-Qui spent studying History.

s = h + 30
s > 2 hrs. 15 mins. (he isn't done yet)

Substitute
2 hrs. 15 mins. = h + 30 mins.

Subtract 30 mins. from both sides
1 hr. 45 mins. = h

However, s > 2 hrs. 15 mins., so h must be more than 1 hr. and 45 mins.

h > 1 hr. 45 mins.
